its easy my friend.. but first you should have a cd's or installer of the operating system you want to install and it should be bootable.. restart your computer and set up your bios (mine is presing the delete at the promp). go to first boot and make it cd/dvdrom and save it..... and reboot again you will be prompted to press any key to install the operating system. and walla just follow the instructions and your finish installing your new operating system.. =) clean and fresh.. hehehe

Clear direction. But is there is no necessity to format the harddisk? I have never attempted to do the installation of OS. I get help from serviceman. He brings all the necessary CDs and installs all essential softwares. While formatting I get the harddisk into 3 or 4 partitions.

I take advantage of partition not to overcrowd the single disc where OS and all software like MS Office,Printer,Antivirus etc. sit. Music,Photos,Files related to other software have to be safely kept separately. If and when necessity arises for formatting, only C-drive needs to be formatted. Am I right, nehmer? Why do you say it is a hastle?

Did you buy a P.C or got it assembled. Usually all P.Cs are sold with an OS installed. If you are trying to upgrade/change the OS you need the OS cd. I am told XP cannot be installed over Vista, but it can be installed over earlier versions like Windows 2000. It is a different matter if your harddisk is partitioned. If you are new to the basics of installations of OS, I suggest get some help of hardware technicians from where you bought the PC.

While what you're asking for seems to be an easy fix, I'm sure there's more to it than what you're letting on. If the PC came with no operating system at all, you probably built it up manually and you should be able to figure out how to install an OS. But if you bought a PC but want another OS (XP instead of Vista)... then I see what the problem is. But yeah, simple install is to just put the disc in the system and it'll install it via a wizard.
