seems they are every day, ell we have one tomorrow at church. I am sick of bringing the same old stuff so I am trying something new. I am going to make a chicken salad with lettuce, chicken, apples, walnuts, bacon, roma tomatoes and a vinegar and oil dressing. Do you have any good pot luck recipes (different, not the same ol same ol)

I always take a veggie dish because it's the easiest thing to do. And when I don't want to clean carrots, celery, etc., I buy the veggie dish. Not cheap, but easy. My mom often makes hallupsie (spelled wrong); it's German dish and goes over really well. It's got pork bacon, sauerkraut, potatoes, rice, bay leaves and peppercorn.

hhm that sounds interesting! I like to mix it up sometimes. My sister in law in philipino , she taught me how to make ponsid(sp). It is delicious too. I have gotten a lot of comments on that. That is rice noodle, lots of soy sauce, pork, snap peas, carrots, onions and whatever other veggies you want. I will have to look up hallupsie and try it out on my guinea pigs at home!

I sent my mom and e-mail and asked her for a recipe. As soon as I get it, I'll send it. And hopefully, I'll get the spelling right.

My husband has a recipe that he likes from a favourite Russian cookbook for hard boiled eggs stuffed with mushrooms. This is one of our favourites.

I usually cook chicken in plum sauce for potluck dinner or lunch. That is the simplest dish that often gets good rating. The best part is chicken wing. You have to cut the chicken in two, marinate it with pepper and salt and a dash of cornflour. Deep fry. Fry some big onions in little oil, put back the fried chicken wings, add plum sauce and oyster sauce, stir a while till all the wings are coated with the sauces. Take out and serve. This is my potluck signature dish.

A pot luck is when everybody brings a dish to pass. The whole meal is brought by everybody. You never know what you will get. It usually evens out, but sometimes you might have more side dishes than main dishes, but you work with what you have. So at events where there is no budget, every body chips in and creates a great meal!
