Music stand as a podium?

For the fashion show Im hsoting this summer,w ould it be weird to have my music stand as the small posium off to the side that the MC puts their papers on while not on stage? Its easy to move and free so I think it's a good idea. Does any one have any other suggestions?

I don't think it would be strange at all. I've used one like that when I had to give a speech in a home setting. It was the only thing I had and it worked well. I used it to put my paper on while speaking.
