What's in a song that gets your attention?

Is it the melody or the meaning? For me, the I tend to like listening to a song because of its melody and I'd figure the meaning of it afterwards. There are songs that I really like to listen over and over again even though I don't understand what it's all about. But the ones that really last for a long time - those that can be considered timeless - are songs that convey certain messages to the listeners. These are songs that tend to communicate to the listener.

Music is all about listening so the 1st thing that get your attention is the melody. If you love the melody then that is the time to learn the lyrics because for sure you want to sing along with that song :)

For me, both the melody and the meaning matters because i sometimes relate my life with the song. There are so many meaningful songs that i like.

the melody of the song attracts or get my attention first then after that i listen to the meaning and lyrics of the music because not all songs have a both a good melody and a good meaning of song
