How hard are jobs/work for you to find in your area?

Our county's unemployment rate just hit 14%...it's a record high! I graduated in 2008 hoping to find a career. I applied for a medical field job and was told that 500 other people applied and I was one of the fortunate 8 chosen to interview. I didn't get the job-I'm still on the lookout. I started to wonder if things are that bad everywhere. Our area is small-not a big city..so this is bad. I'm wondering how other parts of the US are-are jobs few and far between?

Hello Rachelle, Thanks for sharing about our local area. Well we are on the same plato now. I was burned out of my last job, chose to work for myself investing in the stock exchange and that is not moving fast enough for me so changes are coming for me soon too. In the USA the forecast on reemployment is looking up. The president reported that in the month of April alone companies created 290 thousand jobs and the medical field is expected to have tons of opening over then current and future years, just because of the new health care reform bill.

Let us hope! I used to work for a dr. as a medical record file clerk, if things pick up again in that field, I may go back to it.

Oh I know what you mean, we sure need for things to pick and fast. I hope you finds your job soon too. In your area, is there such as thing like here, medical transcription work from home? Some hospitals and doctors tend to hire for that too.

I live in a small town, too, and jobs are very hard to find here, too. I don't mean to be so negative. Most of the time, I'm a pretty upbeat person but I do think you have to be realistic as well. I think it's bad all over, myself. One reason why jobs are so hard to find in this area is because we don't have any industry here any more. We used to be big in the coal mining industry but most of the coal mines are shut down and that effected a lot of jobs.

I totally understand that feeling..I've been trying to keep the faith but I'm losing my cleaning clients..they're either dying or moving away to find work. It's sure gotten tougher. Ours was the big building boom and that's gone now so there are many out of work
