Hi everyone. It is big riddle to me. This question always arises in my mind and for a resolution, i have studied a lot but still unanswered. So i am here. All muslims and christians, you all count your time from the birth of Hazarat Muhammad and Jesus Christ respectively, even the names of your religions have derived from them. You believe that they started these religions from their time. Perhaps You believe or consider ( i guess ) them as god. So my question is if both of them had started these religions - Islam and Christian, then what were the mames of these religions before their births? Again, do you really consider them as god? Please help. Thanks in advance.

If you are asking where both of these beliefs, (I hate that word religion)come from, it started with Abraham. He had 2 sons, Isaac and Ishmael. Ishmael's descendent's are Muslim and Isaac's are Jews. Christianity is the extension of Judaism, though you wouldn't know if from watching some. This is Abraham's family tree: http://catholic-resources.org/Bible/History-Abraham.htm While Christians think that Jesus, (A Jew) eliminated the Old Testament, but it says he fulfilled it, he didn't eliminate it. I am not one of them. I follow the Bible, the whole Bible including the Biblical feasts and festivals and yet, I believe Jesus is the Messiah. I hope that is clear enough, if you are unsure about something, just let me know.

No, Messiah and prophet are not the same. Messiah generally refers to the savior that God promised in the OT prophets. Messiah literally means someone who is annointed, but it usually refers to the savior that God promised in the OT prophets. A prophet is someone who comes bringing a message from God. Jesus was both Prophet and Messiah. But the OT prophets were not Messiah. As for the difference in the Old and New Testament is in the Old. In the Old, man did things to get closer to God by following laws. They were able to cover their sins, but not get rid of them completely. In the New, Jesus came to not eliminate the law, but to give us grace and a final sacrifice that not only cleans us of our sin, but makes it so we can go to the throne of God whenever we want. We need the New Testament, because like I said, our sin was only covered. Now we are cleansed through the blood of Jesus. I also wrote that the law in not eliminated because we still need to obey, just now it is through grace and not what we do. I wrote a short story recently to show this example and I am thinking I should blog it here because I am judged for following the Torah and the Old Laws, though I am a follower of Jesus.

Shalom,,, shibham, there is no Islam or Christian before the birth of the two; the follower of Muhammad was from the worshiper of the Moon god. While Jesus' disciples the 12 were from the Judaism.... the first Christians are both Jewish and Gentles, they were unified.

shibham........ have ever notice the sign of Islam, the towering symbol on the top of their mosque? it is crescent moon, right? because Muhammad peace be upon him, revived the worshiping the moon god but made a adjustment to that cult... The adjustment?... make it your own research, I don't want to spread gossip, you know....

You apparently have done far too little or NO research, it is obvious from your question. First of all, Muslims don't base their years on Muhammads birth, but his pilgrimage to Mecca. Secondly, Muslims do not believe either Jesus or Muhammad were god or part of god, only prophets. Islam was started by muhammad, Jesus did not start Christianity, it was around long before him.

hi, i am in puzzle when u have said that muslims dont count their years from hazarat's birth. so what do u mean by hijri? from which origin the word hijrii has been derived from? yes, i am clear that muhammad is a prophet not the god. again if jesus did not start Christianity, then who? please make me clear. thanks in advance. have a nice day.

I am not really good about my religion's history. I'm a roman catholic, classified as christian. Anyway, as far as I know, before Christ, people were Hebrews or Jews. Probably Hebrew. We consider Christ as God. some christians don't

hi friend. i understand your problem. there are too many factors of a certain religion that we are ignore about. so it is a hard process to take a huge knowledge of it. you consider christ as god but if u give a look to some previous responses then u will see that jesus was not the god. perhaps he created the word god. have a nice day.

clear differences between humans and gods. Bot of them ( isa and muhammad ) is the mesenger god. Not good or gods children. Much damage was caused after the depature of jesus christ. Advent of muhammad was as cleaning dirt from the teaching of god created man after the departure of jesus christ

Hmmm..that's actually quite long to explain because the history are really complex. If you lookup in the internet the name Karen Armstrong would probably gives most of the history that you're looking for as a base to answer your question. But for me religion is considered as a boat to be used to cross a river. Once you crossed it, you no longer need it or it's going to be a burden. Meaning is that religion will teach how to be good and compassionate toward yourself and others by doing it's religious teaching or dogma. But once you are wise enough to know how to be compassionate than you have reach the point where you and God are actually communicating one to one, then religion is basically just rules. The way to know God is only by heart which is sincere. Muhammad and Jesus Christ has given us this example that religion is merely a vessel but it is our heart and faith that actually can steer the vessel to a better place. They show us how faith is higher than religious rules or dogma. But for me, I'm not considering them as God, but they are spiritual leaders that has given us example on how to reach God in a good manner. Hope this view can help. Cheers

karen armstrong, i have not heard this name before. so i am about to search this name. thanks for the information. yes, i am agree with you. i also consider religion as a jacket. i mean in case of sanskrit literature the word religion means what we wear.so, our basic form to be religious is always heart and soul. i never consider them as too much religious who frequently visit temples or churches and pray god for a long time. it should not be like bcoz a pure heart is considered as an alter place of church or temple. i appreciate your thoughts towards religion. thanks. have a nice day.
