This makes me angry! I'm a single working mom-but Some people don't work

My mom is a teacher...she has an aide with 3 daughters who have a several children each. None of them has ever worked a day in their life. They live off the governement and their mother. Recently-my mom told me that the one-who's a felon and a heavy drug addict-just received $15,000 from an agency. I was furious...I can't even get help with my wayy past due child support from my ex-husband-but they give 15 grand to a girl whose "criminal record and drug addiction stops her from working" Does this anger anyone else? Why does the "system" work like this? Why are people like this enabled to be "stay at home moms?"

i m more angry about those who can work and won't, since i m looking for a job for more then 1 year now, but the economical situation in my country won t allow me to get it. So i m "angry" at those who have the posibility of getting a job but are too "picky" or just lay back and exploit the laws in their countries or who knows :)) maybe their parents.

Please try and find out the details and share them with us: What agency and why or how did she get that money?

Well, a few posts up there I told you-DCF (department of children and families grant) and then some section 8 consolidation grant. Get this-she got arrested for violation of probation-she's in jail for 3 years now..wonder where that money went?? She's a total dud

oh I see, thanks. I bet that violation of probation may have had involved identity theft, forge ring documents. I wonder if they confiscated the money or just canceled the award. I wonder if one can inquire directly about it and find out what happened to the money? Maybe its something to be done through a news reported.

It's ok to be a "stay at home mom" if you can support your child or if your husband does the financial support for the whole family. Atleast the effort of living and eat 3 times a day is there. But to a person who has a REALLY nasty and bad reputation gets 15 grand without doing anything is really a stupid decision. There are lots of people out there who are more worth it for the 15 grand!! If that continues people might think that the only way to get 15 grand is to be bad and that really isn't a good motivation to everyone -.-

Hi RachelleNH! Yes, this angers me very much! Like one mylotter here said, it's worse than just a stay at home mom. I would love to be able to work, myself. I've worked at a lot of jobs in my life. Because I have a learning disability, I have trouble holding on to a job. However, I'm getting SSI now and my lawyer advised me not to work.

I think so, too, sid556. I am looking for some kind of legitimate work at home job in the meantime because I need something to supplement my SSI check. My family is helping me out right now but they're not going to help me forever.

Wow, I got my college degree also-a basic 2 year business degree...and so now I'm paying for that..but they don't count your bills to income..they denied me also..I don't know what the trick is. I guess the good part is that you have a job. They wouldn't give me medicaid for some reason-I need that more than anything-my kids are healthy but you never know...I had some ct scans done (I got this strange rash and my face swelled up-so they hospitalized me and took xrays) They never did find out what was wrong with me and I still owe that..what can they do? Sue me? LOL, for what? My car? I don't think so..at least I hope not!

what was the money for and what "agency" was it from? I think this is something I would like. I have children, no criminal record- but am a recovering addict. have always worked (til now) and am hard up for cash. maybe I could give them a pitch? (sarcasm)

From what I was it was money in her pocket-to do whatever with-pay bills, go back to school, childcare, etc and I was also told she used several sources...one was a government grant from Department of children and families and the other was a small grant ($1200) and that was from some Section 8 debt consolidation program. I thought about it also-I mean for crying out loud-they're giving money to her-why not the people who will work

well, it angers me as well... sometimes the system really betrays us, the honest, hardworking and innocent citizens... and more benefits go to criminals and lazy people... it really upset and angers me because i work really hard everyday with my hubby to earn for my living... and some people can just laze around and depend on government money (which is our tax money) to survive... it is so unfair... but we can't really do anything, can we??? :-( take care and have a nice day...

It is not justice. I don't understand how can these people fool others and be lazy. I am not sure if they are trying for a job and having difficulty in finding a job as we are still in the effects of recession. Is that the sitaution? I think no woman should sit at home. Women have the talent to take care of her official work and personal work at the same time. So, I think no girl should sit at home.

It happens here as well and thats the reason i am finding every excuse to reduce and not to pay tax at all if possible.I dont know from which country are you but many western countries are in debit and thats still they rewarding their non working citizen in this way.Now thats really annoying. Best way to have a peace of mind is find out every possible way to pay income tax.

I've been hearing about this issue for a long time. I think your government is wrong to give more support to irresponsible people than to those who are willing to make a difference in their lives. It's really unfair because they just pamper those useless creatures while burdening those who are good citizens. My country doesn't have much money, so people are left to fend for themselves. This brings hardships to us, and I would really love it if our government would give a little bit more support, but when I really think about it, this isn't totally bad because at least it teaches us to be responsible for our own lives. But there is still lots of room for improvement. After all, the money the government spends comes from us, so our welfare should be the government's priority.

The US doesn't have the money to be doing this..that's why our debt is like in the trillions-Because of idiots like her. I agree that during the recession-the government should help people-but not enable them to do things like she's doing..they should give her a weekly check-just enough to cover expenses-and verify those expenses-so that she can't lie...and then make her either volunteer (if she can't get a job) or go jobhunt daily..I think she should have to earn it like the rest of us.

I would love to be a stay at home mom but can't afford it. I work a full time job, and it also makes me angry that there are so many people out there who have never worked, not because they can't but because they just plain don't want to, and the government pays them to stay home. I think that for anyone who gets welfare that if they are physically able, meaning if they are not paralyzed from the neck down, then they should have to do some community volunteer work in order to keep getting their benefits. That way they still have to WORK for their money after all. Maybe that would inspire some of them to go out and try to find work.

Dang that makes me mad too. How is that possible? What kind of program did that for that person? I agree with you, its not fair at all. We need to learn about such things and learn to use them too. Why should only they get that?

Im so sorry you feel angry, i know what you are talking about and i feel your pain but what choose do we have? if we don't work then our kids will think its ok to be lazy. i don't want me kids to grow up thinking that they can live off of the goverment and the tax payers. i want my kids to be proud of themselves and there mom. someday i know my ex will have to answer for why he couldnt help with child support.

Government hand outs are becoming ridiculous. While I fully support helping people getting on their feet welfare does not accomplish that goal. In my opinion it is time for the government to start building businesses (such as factories) and employing citizens to work with the money that is being wasted on welfare. As an added benefit any profits a government owned business made would go to pay off the Defect!

That is probably a great idea! for the government to create actual jobs, businesses, or work sources for those people to get employed instead of handing out chunks of money, give them a job, with benefits and a fair wage, while maybe even on the job training. Why not campaign about that and have the government act on such a program?

I wouldn't even have a clue how someone went about campaigning. There are so many good ideas that could at least be considered and for some reason the government is just refusing to, but honestly I wouldn't have a clue how to get any one of them to sit up and take notice. Heh, maybe I should create a website and list all my ideas out. *gets thoughtful* that's not a half-bad idea actually. Thanks Climber.
