Well, I was raised in Port St. Lucie, Florida. It is a small town and everyone knows everyone in a way. I moved there in 1995 and there was only 1 high school in the city and when I was in 7th grade around 98 the second high school opened. When I finally got into high school I kind of knew most people whether it was from association or lived in my area. There was some deaths and drownings and murders that happened. I was never big on the news or anything but when I did read/watch it always astounded me if I saw someone I knew or something. I am 23 now and I live in Miami so I get to reconnect with people on Facebook and I was inquiring about one person and I found out that she is currently in jail for identity theft among other things and it still shocks me because I knew her all through out middle school and some of high school. I am not saying everyone is perfect but you always see stuff on the news or read things in the paper thinking where do these people come from and how you think it will never happen to you and then it suddenly does.. Have you been in a situation where you knew someone that was on the news or read something in the paper that you were shocked from?

When I was young-er, my mom ran with a circle of friends which everybody knew. They all had the same type of buy-and-sell busuness. We would see the same people in parties or whatever activities they had. One year, a new 'friend' joined the circle. She was from out of town, but also had the same business. After a few months she was really part of the group. Then one day, she just disappeared. As it turns out, she recruited almost everybody (including my mom) in some sort of pyramid-investment scam. Everybody lost money. A few weeks later, we found her picture in the papers. She was wanted for a similar scam in a different town. You think you know somebody...

I thought I saw an old friend on an episode of cops once. I started laughing my tail off, because I thought that I should have expected it to happen sometime down the road. Turned out to be somebody else though. I met up with them a few weeks later, and they told me they say it as well. We had a good laugh, and made a bet to see which one of us would likely appear on that show first. I expect to win easily, but we'll see.
