How often are you able to read the bible?

I do good to read the bible about once a week. And, sometimes, as bad as I hate to say it is in church. It seems with life that reading the Bible on a daily basis is, for me, a task which I cannot do. I probably need to, but somehow with way my schedule runs sometimes I can't seem to get it in. Are any of you like that? Are you able to read the Bible on a daily basis or like me the only time only able to read it at church?

if the bible were written in plain everyday language i would read it cover to cover, i dont grasp the way it's written, people tell me to keep reading and i will understand it in the way its written, that doesnt work for me. i went to catholic school so i do know whats going on but i would like to read it.

When I was a child and going to VBS and Sunday school with my grandmother, it seemed like the only version out there was King James. And I could never understand it. With the way it was written, it was well over my head. Now, since I've grown up, I still don't like that version, but have found a couple of versions that are more down to earth to where you can understand. And that is New International Version and New Living Translation. There are more towards plain everyday language.

Before reading the Bible, they say that we must really ask for the guidance of the Holy Spirit. It will not make it 100% clear but we will slowly grasp the meaning. And with practice it will become smoother. But I agree that some versions are harder to understand but they provide closer translations to the actual manuscripts

I find it difficult to understand why people today cannot understand the King James Bible. I started reading it when I was about eleven years old and have never had a problem with it. I have other versions but much perfer my King James. Blessings.

Hi Steinway, When I was younger I usually found time to read the Bible every day but now that I'm retired I can read it whenever I like. I don't take it literally and don't let anyone tell me how I am to interpret it. Blessings.

Matthew 4:4 (Young's Literal Translation) 4But he answering said, `It hath been written, Not upon bread alone doth man live, but upon every word coming forth from the mouth of God.' Based on this verse and others, I have personally concluded that I should read it every day. And this I try to do. We eat physical food every day so what excuse do I have not to read God's word every day? I usually read 3 to 5 chapters a day. This way I am able to read the entire Bible every year. This takes me about half an hour to do. God gives 24 hours every day so I would like to him back half an hour by reading his thoughts and counsel and instructions.

Try to do it this way - set a specific time of the day and allocate about five minutes (to start with) of reading the bible. Times like first thing in the morning, first thing when i get to the office or last thing before going to bed are good because its things that have to happen almost every day irregardless of where you are. Then read about a specific topic, say FAITH for a month or so. Most bibles have scripture refence index at the back that can help in this regard. Try to pray about the subject and identify something that is relevant to how you feel at that particular time. It you stick to such a routine, you will be amazed at how much interest it can bring up. Before you know it, you will be targeting to read the bible cover to cover! I have done this sevearl times and I am about to start on another session, with a different bible translation agian. be blessed and assured that even with the "old language" the bible is good to read because the words speak to our lives in a way no other book can.

Well, I usually don't go to the church, but I try to read the Bible every day. Sometimes, I take it early in the morning when I stand up, have my breakfast and after a sit down to read until three chapters in the Bible, while I finish my cup of coffee. But sometimes I read in the evening instead, before going to sleep. Reading the Bible is a great habit to learn more, to remember to be a better cristian and for a lot of more things, I think.

I read it just about every night. It's good to go to sleep with the Word of God in my mind. I used to read it every morning, but somehow got out of that habit. That was good, too, because it helped get and keep my mind in the right place as I started the day. Reading from the Bible shouldn't be a chore; it's a privilege. Many people don't even have a copy of the scriptures because it's illegal to own them. I think that if you can only manage a single verse each day, you will grow.

Before, I tried to read the Bible every night but circumstances changed and I got busier and busier in school and some other affiliations and I forgot to continue reading the Bible. At the moment, I don't have the routine of reading the Bible and it's been a while from now already.

I read the words of God everyday. It is a commandment of God to read the scriptures everyday. Every day is busy and we spend so much time at work, eating and in sleeping but we should never forget to read the scriptures at least once a day. My husband and I read the scriptures every day especially the Book of Mormon. We always have time for it even if we read it just for 15 minutes or so.

I read Bible only once, maybe twice and now I open it only if I need to quote references. This I do quite often because I am participating discussions of religion almost daily.

I really can't remember when did I last hold a bible. Its a sad reality that not everyone wants to read the bible. Example, for me, I would rather have time to read other fictional books than listening to the words of God. I would like to change that. I'll try reading the bible by time to time so I'll be getting use to it.

Like you, there are weeks that I am only reading and holding the Bible at church. I admit that it is not because I don't have the time but it is because I forgot to do it. Sometimes I am so tired of my day that even if I remember doing it, I still choose not too because I am lazy doing it. I don't know if there is a requirement for reading it, but as what I remember in church, we should read and meditate the word of God every day. I want to do it and I am trying.
