Hello there, you know i had to come back here just to let you know how i feel about these news. Media had inform us that there had been more than just 40+ defective People's machines and Comelec had early decided to recall more than 4000+ flash cards and some memory cards http://www.abs-cbnnews.com/nation/05/04/10/comelec-recalls-76000-compact-flash-cards-nationwide aren't you guys shocked at this? some one said there's a possible failure of elections and now we are seriously seeing a preview of it.. I can have a fix on the blame : 1) delays on the implementing the automated elections and the biddings 2) failure of implementing it's early production 3) MADE IN CHINA! (no offense to the chinese users) but when this is mentioned, enough said. Politicians either want pursue May 10, with the risk of manual count or post pone may 10 to give time to more testing, which is more do you want?! Frankly, i feel afraid of voting this may 10. advice, keep your ballot clean because machine won't accept if it's dirty

I think it is the birth pains we are experiencing with the implementation of an automated election. I think this will come to pass if we pursue with it and know what really is wrong about it. For us not to go with it is just saying that we are allowing the politicians to take advantage of using the manual counting. Manual counting has a lot of problems and this is just what these scrupulous politicians from happening declaring the automation a failure to use manual voting for their evil purposes.

The fears being sown in the news might be some sort of conditioning the masses from this kind of a last minute panic. We need to wait for the next few days how comelec would solve the impending problem.

hello rsa, i hope they get the job done, ordinary people can easily panic with news such as these. most specially the network is too bias for blind viewer to watch i won't consider, once they result to that it's no longer an automated election

It's really scary to hear all this news about the PCOS machines, I mean they just give us more and more reasons not to trust the results of the upcoming elections. I really wish they would do something about it, and they would show us, that's the results would still be the right one, and there'll be no failure of elections, and no postponing to that matter ( as being "suggested" by one of GMA's lawyers ).. This election is just turning into a full blown soap opera.. I just can't wait to see what will happen on May 10. Let's all hope and pray that everything will turn out well, and there'll be no civil or military unrest on the day and after the elections.

hello ingkingderders, it's better if they just postpone it giving more time to test and make those damn things work. i know it will anger a few but that's a risk than angering the entire nation, including government people. ijust prayed today. i agree with the lawyers, they have to prevent collateral damage

Hmmm. I'm really not sure if I want to postpone it or not.. I don't think they can still have the full confidence of the people on the automated elections no matter what happens. It's just hard to trust something that you know have already failed..

I think that the comelec is all to blame. They have made such promises, but then they did not keep that promise. I think that there will be a delay in this election. The problem is still very big and to cheat in this election is very easy and intolerable. I say that we go to manual counting. Time is of the essence and if you analyze the situation properly there is a high risk for a failure of election to occur. Just by studying the method in this short span of time. I believe that it took them only how many months for the machine to complete and not years so the machines are questionable. Did it pass quality control. or only paid quality control. The ballots and the machine don't match so there is a vast difference in the counting and then they have this very few days just to adjust that something in order to have a clean election. So ironic. Well, that's life. We can do nothing but to wait for the result. Have a nice day. thanks for the discussion. Happy mylotting. Keep on posting.

hello marctiu, It is big but i won't agree into manual counting since they will need tally sheets, which is really unrealistic since were suppost to be automated. they really had to post pone it rather than getting greater mistakes. i hope they fix it up in time? two days to replace the cards? they're gonna have to do the impossible, since filipinos tend to be slow and always rush in the end

There are groups of people who had been asking questions on comelec's readiness as far as this automated elections are concerned but comelec always make it appear that there's nothing to worry about and everything will just be like a walk in the park. Now, they are scrambling to solve concerns raising here and there. I can only imagine the stress and apprehension the guys over at the comelec have to go through during the elections and when actual feeding of ballots to those PCOS machines happens. But i really hope that they can pull the strings together. but if worse comes to worse i think we should continue with the scheduled may 10 elections and let heads roll if there's failure of elections. It's about time for those who are in charge be to held accountable if the elections fail. Now since this is our first time to go automating the elections, manual counting should be there as an alternative to ensure the credibility of the elections. We can fully go automated once we have proven the integrity of the system.

Let's wait till Monday if this automation is successful or not. Many problems occur during the dry run of this machines and I hope they going to fix it soon. They also want to have manual counting but it is also good so they can double check the votes.

hello ybong, it's supposed to be walk in the park. but it's not that easy the way i see it. i hope they fix this problem. i am sure they are at the flash mode right now getting it done. i prefer postpone it for 15 days, i couldn't bear to see how the auto becomes auto failure.

Comelec i think is not agreeable to manual count since it beats the purpose of going automated but personally i share the apprehension of those who insist on having a manual checking. We can't really place the outcome of the elections to untested machines. Moving the elections 15 days later is not setting a good example as well, it would show how badly those guys at the comelec are when it comes to planning. I think several years of preparation is more than enough. Comelec claimed that they're prepared for may 15, lets see if what they're claiming is more than just lip service.

I also heard about that news but actually not only 40 automated machines are defective but more than...And I don't agree with this manual voting but this would be alternative we can't do about this. We just need to continue this election even though were gonna go back again to manual election or else President Gloria will still remain,. However this manual election worried me because cheating will gonna happen again...probably people are very upset about what's happening on coming election and this defective machines, I guess there's behind of it they're planning something or whatever it is, hope it nothing bad happens this coming election.

This may be the way of candidate to attract voter.they have the standard rised, even it is beyond the capacity of production. Nowadays, we are longing of better life. So the candidate availds of this thing to be their weapon against their rival. However, they do not expect that their report make people more and more worried about the quality of products, special for Automated products. The consequence is we do not trust any supplier any more and do not buy the Automated products. In one hand, the manufacturer invest more money into the development of advanced technology. In the other hand, teh government appeal the customer to pay more attention to automated products. It is so weird. As for made-in-china products, the most has been tested before export. It is very safe when you use it properly. however, what we should bear in mind is that the products only be worth to the price that count on.

There's just one logical explanation why this thing is happening - because idiots and thieves are in position. If you have these two lethal combination in power then you won't be surprised of the outcome. All you have to do is bet on how worse it will get when it already happens.

hello xte, let's not get to that, or it might raise my blood pressure for me i think it'sbetter to post pone it for greater results. hate manual counting, but ihope people who are too hurry to vote should realize that assurance is better than haste.

I doubt if the election will happen on May 10! good thing that media was there to record the flaws of this automated machine. Because, we can deal that the Comelec is hiding this flaws just to be able to cheat for this coming election. If there are no choice lets just go back to the manual count.

hello grecy, i don't manual count. probably they're will be more black outs again and more people getting social unrest since it's supposed to be auto not auto failure. more volunteers and teachers will be threatened and killed for that matter. seriously, comelec need to fix that problem

i have seen the news last night. and it is really alarming. i believe that from the news reports, the only problem is the programming of the software or that of the CF cards. it is said that they can finished reformatting the cards in 3 days so why postpone the elections. if we will only help each other, everyone who is connected or involved in transporting those cards and the technical people or the IT personnel, they may 10 will not be a failure.
• Philippines

hello neildc, yeah, not just the cards, those cards are vital parts of the system and seeing those get replaced in two days seemed hard to do. idon't want manual count, which would result into cheating

Let us trust that the automation will go smoothly. I have heard in the news today May 5, 2010 that there are some glitches but the smartmatic, which won the bidding admitted the error and they are doing their best to come up with a viable solution. Let's look at the positive things rather than dwell on the negative things and keep our hearts develop bitterness. Blessing to you.

hello blessings, well, the one thing i am concerned about now is getting those cards replaced. and test it again, we are running out of time. for now, am notletting my pc fix until the elections are over

We really can't say it's a failure till may 10. Right now, they encountered a MAJOR setback with the flash cards, but they say they can still fix it, so as I'd say, we'll see by May 10. The problem is that, the machine does not count the back portion of the ballot, but the front part where the national positions are could be properly counted. So if that is the problem, we could still push through with the national elections, it will be the local positions that will be greatly affected. If worst comes to worst, I believe they will just move the elections maybe a week later but we should definitely push through with automated elections. Doing manual counting after all the trouble of automation is a waste of money, effort and time. Totally unpractical! And can you imagine the human error in trying to count those ballots meant to be counted by the PCOS machine? Have you guys received your sample ballot? I tell you, those who will attempt to count those ballots manually will surely be challenged!

hello em, the problem is big, reallybig. if they postpone it might save us the trouble in getting to the bigger problem. that's why i don't manual counting, what are they're back up procedures? in testing a lot of machines went error due to the vital flash cards and memories
