Have you ever taken cipro & got hives when out in sunlight?

I take two medications regularly to treat my depression and both of them the side effects say to avoid sun exposure. Recently I got a UTI and had 2 start taking Cipro. I went out to mow the lawn and broke out in hives everywhere the sun touched. Then they got better after a few days and I went outside for 20 minutes with my kids and broke out in MASSIVE hives everywhere the sun touched. Finally I decided to check the prescription bottle for Cipro and sure enough there was a warning sticker on there saying to avoid sun exposure. I guess I should have checked that first haha. I had to take a lot of claritin and benedryl to get the hives to lessen. Today I put sunblock on and after about an hour in the sun I started to get hives again so I had to come back in the house where the hives went away after about an hour. Has this every happened to you or am I just the freak that I get all the side effects even the rare ones?

It could've been the fact that you were already on two meds that said to avoid the sun and then you threw a third one in there. That's asking for trouble. Best try to avoid the sun from now on until you finish the Cipro. It's only about a week or so right?
I've had to take Cipro a few times for utis and I tried to avoid the sun for reasons you learned the hard way. I've been fairly lucky to have not had many of the rare bad side effects with pills. Tho my bipolar meds made me gain 20 pounds. Evil pills. And I've gotten mild upset stomachs with pretty much all antibiotics. Thankfully no hives. I am however the only person I know who is allergic to Vicodin. I got violently ill on it after having my wisdom teeth pulled. That was not fun.
Everyone just reacts to meds differently. It makes you wonder sometimes if the side effects are worth it.

You look beautiful in your avatar so I am sure the 20 pounds the bi-polar meds made you gain didnt hurt you any but I know how that feels to gain unwanted weight. It was so hard those 10 days I was on cipro because it was in the middle of summer so I couldnt go out and do anything and when I was forced to go out like to mow my lawn the itchy hive were unbearable.
