I am glad I am not the only person who things that! I too have always felt water from a public fountain tasted a bit 'off' or funny! I carry my own water bottle with me everywhere I go... and when I was kid I stopped by the nurses office and got a drink from a cup, just so I didn't have to drink from the fountain if I could help it!

That's cool because I won't touch them anymore!!!

                    Hi Jahernandezivas
I feel the same way you do for some reason I just don't trust public drinking fountains especially ones that are in parks. I didn't like them either when I was in school but I used to drink it back then because I was thirsty (also they never seem to be cold always this warm water) yuck
I just drink filtered or bottled water now the weather is getting warmer and I drink more water during the warmer months

I've noticed if it's something that is used more often or if you run it for a minute it's better. But you are right some are just plain yucky tasting no matter what.

Yes I did forsure notice the taste. In face to me it tastes like I am swallowing a mouthful of liquid coming straight from a rusted water well. As I recall from when I was a kid, the water fountains at school tasted like they had really good water. I think because of all the polution now a days, that's the reason.
Take care

I don't trust those things. I don't know how clean they are. I've seen kids play in them and put their mouths or gum on them. So I won't put my mouth near the one where I work (I work in a store). At least our drinking fountain keeps the water cool but I don't know if it's filtered or just tap water. I have a water filter at home and I use it to fill a bottle of water to take to work instead.

water fountains can't be found these days, they are no where to find now. i guess it's already obsolete since water dispensers are now everywhere. this is what we have in the office and even at home.

I haven’t had a drink from a water fountain since I was a kid; to be honest I feel a bit grossed out at the prospect now and I agree that the water is not so nice. It’s a relief to know that it’s not just me; I thought I was being fussy and that no one else felt that way. I bring my own water even if it is from my kitchen tap; it tastes a lot better to me.

in general, I only drink water that has been cooked and does not contain substances that can cause our stomach wound. In any case, I think need to bring a healthy water in the bottle as a precaution when necessary, where we do not need to look again to another place.

I would much rather drink bottled water than drink form the finking fountains, however, if M really thirsty, and that is all there is, then I will drink from them. I think it all depends on how well the water fountains are kept up, as I would never drink form a dirty water fountain. There is a water fountain in my church, and I have used it, as that is very clean. I don't mind that, as only the members drink from it and not the public. I think that makes a difference too, as when you drink for a water fountain that the public uses, then it can become dangerous, and you don't know what kind of people have been drinking from it. Take care, and happy mylotting.

I used to drink water from the water fountains, but not anymore. I too think that the water from some of them tastes funny. So I now make it a point to carry a small bottle of water. I am a little fuss-pot like that

Yes I do and unfortunately, yes they do have that certain taste. If I am so thirsty that I want to drink a gallon, water fountains would have to do. Otherwise, I try not to drink from those. Good thing that I don't have a very sensitive stomach and don't experience aches when drinking from those.
