What made you believe in God?

Many people have been arguing about the existence of God. It is a never-ending debate. Some people claim that there is no God. Others claim that God exists. This question is for those who believe in God... What made you believe in Him?

what made me believe in god was the fact that he was always there for mein my life.during the hardest trials i have encountered he was always close by protecting me. he sent his word to me by holy spirit and guided my life toward christ. christ then continued to lead me and i met my wonderful husband whom god also has a firm grasp over. together me and my husband were blessed with two kids andwe both were blessed with eyes to see and ears to hear. we can sense what iis to come in the future and all i can say is for those who are not sure for the existance of the almighty and his son...you betterfind out quick because times are winding down...

Hello mlloyd! Since you've found Christ, there's nothing more I can say but that the Lord continue to bless you and your family. I'm glad I found a true Christian here. Thank you very much.

The chances of this world came into existence on its own is negligible due to various complex creations in it.therefore someone might have created it,what do you call him who created it ?some may say inventor, maker, owner etc but all will agree to call him as creator. The existence of this world is enough to believe in god.

I agree with you. But I wonder why many people can't see that and/or refuse to accept that...

yes.. i too agree.. dont knw how people dont have a look at the beautifull creation .. the earth so big.. the sky without a pillar.. no whole in it.. the mountains so big and so high.. thus God is there for sure!!!! and he is the only one there is no other god but Allah!!!

Hello Lewejsam, Looking at your last post I want to tell you that you are RIGHT. Christians are suppose to be IMATING Jesus. As Christians we are not suppose to lead anyone astray but support each other. We are told to do this over and over in the Bible. The day is coming when Jesus will return and there are going to be MANY so called Christians that will find out they never had CHRIST in their life. Jesus tells us about this in Matthew 25:31-46. Jesus was here and set an example and he has left but he left us to continue his work, someday he will return and when he does he will ask us to account for what we have done. I prefer to say "I did" and want to hear him say "Well Done, good and faithful servant!" Matthew 25:14-30

Sorry it took me so long to reply to your comment. I did but when I posted it deleted me. I think the verse you are refering to is Luke 12:48 (I had to ask a friend where it was because I could not find it) But the one who does not know and does things deserving punishmet will be beaten with few blows. From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked. This verse is explained in Jesus parable about the Talents. Matthew 25:14-30; Luke 19:12-27 1 Corinthinas 3:6 I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God made it grow. This verse tells us that we have a part in Jesus's ministry. We may not ever know what one little thing we did made a difference in someone elses life, but was does matter is that we did it. There is more in this chapter on what servants do. Do not feel ashamed of doing little for the Lord, remember the widow in the temple. Luke 21:1-4 I remember as a little girl growing up that my mother always saved a $1 out of her grocery money for church offering. God judges each of us by what we have and what we did with it. Not by what all have. I hope I have helped you some.

Thank you Christmas. I felt sad the last time I read Matthew 25 because it reminds me of another verse: "to whom much is given, much is required". Sorry, I forgot what verse that is, but I'm sure you're familiar with that too. I felt like I wasn't really doing anything for the Lord and I'm ashamed of it. To hear Him say "well done" is one of my greatest goals as His servant.

I learned from my mother and the people in our church. God was always there. Everyone around me, except my dad, believed in God, so it was as natural as eating when I was little. When I was older and questions poped up so did answers.

Christmas, hello! It's good that you found answers to your questions. I'm saying this because I had recently read a blog wherein the author says that one of the main reasons that made him turn his back on Christianity was that he had questions which were left unanswered. The people around him were unwilling to really answer the questions that he asked. Maybe, if someone had answered/explained them to him then he would not have turn away from being a Christian...

The sad thing is that not all churches are true to the Word of God. I would tell this person you are talking about to 'go somewhere else'. You need to find a STRONG Bible believing church. The most wonderful thing about Jesus is --- no matter how far you stray from HIM, He is only a prayer away and is always waiting to take you back. As long as you are alive..ALL sin is forgiveable, YOU only have to admit and ask forgiveness!!!! I would recommend a Study Bible to read, it will so HELP to answer your questions.

When I was a kid I never used to believe in god . Though due to family compulsion , I used to pray . But in my teen-age many instances made me believe in god . Now , I totally believe in god ! Like not 1 or two instances , many countless instances . I did not study even a word for an exam . I just took god's photo and kept it near my heart . I don't know what happened to me and I scored 88 out of 100 on that exam . I wanted to play for my country under-14 football team . I prayed for the god and guess what I was selected , many more instances made me believe in god . When I usually pray for something , I do get that thing , all thanks to god .

I'm a scientist, well I will be, and so believing in God souldn't really be on my list. But you know what, when my teacher starts explaining, that it's all just a big coincidence and how lucky we are that we even exist, because if even a tiny thing went wrong in the way how the Sun was created, we wouldn't be here... Well I don't want to believe that I'm just a coincidence or even a mistake in the Universe. I'm not the kind of believer that goes to church and prays everyday. But I do believe because all the science in this world only showed me how strange and mysterious everything are. So I believe in God as some kind of higher being, I even believe in Bible for that matter. But I know that none of my schoolmates believes. And their only argumet is that they are scientists and that they shouldn't believe. Everytime I look at the sky to the stars and remember all the lectures about how perfect it is, I refuse to belive it's just random...

A long time ago I read a book about a scientist that set out to prove beyond doubt that there was no God and that Jesus did not exist. The more he tried to prove God wrong, the more he was proved wrong and in the end turned his life over to God. It was a beautiful book but unfortunately I don't remember the tittle...something like. In search of Jesus. I don't even remember the author. It was a very long time ago but your post made me think about it.

I agree with you 100%. There are still things that science can't explain. Some people look at man as if he's just a thing, an object that they can experiment on and never wonder who could've created such perfect beings. I believe the only one who could really understand the science of all the things surrounding us is the one who knows GOD. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and experience about GOD. Hopefully more aspiring scientist have the same belief such as yours.

Even though I have a strong faith in God as brought about by my family's belief, there was a time that I did wonder of God's existence especially during tough and difficult times. What made me believe that there is God is the fact that this earth and the solar system are impossible to have been born by themselves. Not to mention all living things on Earth, be it big or small. A Divine Being must have given life to us all. That made me believe in God all the more and I marvel at His work every single day. Remember: "It is better that one lives a life believing that there is a God only to find out in the end that there is none, rather than living a life believing that there is no God and only to find out in the end that there IS one!" Think about that phrase.

The look in my babies eyes when I throw her in the air.. She knows that I am going to catch her... its that look that makes me know that somone out there lets her know I will never let her fall.. that I will always believe in her..and catching her is just what i do..God gives me that feeling..No matter how bad i am, the screw ups i make the fears I have I know he understands and he is always there... I know he is there when it rains after a long drought.. I only think we have droughts because he is tide up some where else but he makes it back to our home and releases rain and my little girls watch it pour and I snuggle with my hubby.. That is God that is what makes me believe

Hi Lilly! Wow... It's really amazing what little kids can teach grown-ups. Lol. It seems that you know a lot of things about God. I really like how you described that "trust" that children have for God. Keep trusting Him. Thanks for sharing!

What made me believe in God is seeing my gradnfather's devotion to his preach work and attending kingdom hall often and even out of the church, he was always so kind to everyone and he adored children. Growing up, I used to believe that HE was God :D But as I grew older, I then realized he was just human who was following the ways of God. I knew then that if someone with a soul could be so graceful and forgive like God, I know he must have learned it from someone. But who? All he ever does with his spare time was read the bible and read some more and preach. My grandpa is my inspiration for everything and he believes in me and for that I am thankful and also thankful that he got me to believe in my creator.

Hi cam! Thanks for sharing this. It made me miss my grandpa... You're blessed to have a grandfather like him. Just a follow-up question: Have you had any personal experiences wherein you saw God at work?

hello there well to start off i do beleive in god, i have been through something that no hu-man can fix when i talk to him sometimes alot of the things they come to light, and if some people would just take the time to read the bible slot of his words are true,i have had questions answerd that i have not asked anyone to answer them for me. in spirit people have to understand that there is another power out there beyond us, alot of people choose not to believe for the fact that they don't want to know the truth, or god does not answer their preayers right away, and some people do not believe because they dont want to face the fact that when you start to believe your strength becomes stronger and they dont want to feel that they are being controled by and unseen force. then people try to blame god for the things that go on alot of times you cant blame god for what is going on in the world for the fact he gave us a document on how to live but some choose not to follow and when one bad apple spoils a bunch its like we all try to fight it we all are the human race and you pick your battles to fight and some you choose to let go, but sometimes god will put us in a test to test our faith, and to keep pushing forward and we have to remember that.

Thank you, walking. Yes, if only people will take time to really read and understand the Bible they will find answers to their questions. And if only those who know will help them and explain what is written in the Bible to them, perhaps, they will understand it better. Maybe that's what Christians should do. But what I think is more important is that Christians should really try to imitate Christ by showing compassion/mercy to others. I know of some people who get discouraged to learn more about God because of what they see that some Christians do -- things that are probably contrary to what the Bible teaches.
