When choosing a book to read, do you like books that have extremely long words and you barely know the meaning of; or do you prefer the simpler everyday style of writing? Myself, I don't like to start reading something and find out that I need a dictionary, thesaurus or encyclopedia to be able to understand my book. If that is the case, I would end up reading 4 books at one time. What type of books atract you? Are you more into the intellectual style of the simple style?

I usually don't enjoy books that I have to look up words for, but if the story is good enough then I'll finish it and maybe I'll like it. I'll read and enjoy either intellectual writing or simple writing. It's the story and how much I care about the characters that really grabs me.

Do you also like to write, yourself? Sometimes people who love to read also make good writers.

I read lots of books but I'm not in any book clubs. I really like High Fantasy books that take place entirely in their own world. I'll read other genres sometimes, but this is my favorite.

It has never occurred to me that I could reject a book by the lenght of the words they had although I have rejected good books because the font was too small and my eyes too old. I read different books depending on the occation. On vacations I´ll pick a lighter book, but normally I would get anyone that I have on hand. I have a good vocabulary so big words don´t bother me either in English nor in my native language, Spanish.

I use to flee from books with fine print but as of Friday I have some new glasses that combine distance lenses with reading glasses..what a world of difference.

Neither..and/or both....What makes me pick a book is what the book is about and whether or not its something I'm interested it...and how its written in the sense of whehter or not its bland or exciting...if a book is bland then it doesnt matter if its wordy or simple..It wont interest me...

Glad that reading is still part of your life. Sometimes, with technology, people drop reading for what's easier. I often wonder if writers will become obosolete.

I'm not the choosy type and anything can pass through my eyes. The only thing that prevent me to read books complex or not is the lack of time to read. At best I like to read scientific or philosophical book but i wont ignore the less interesting yet informative.

So you love to read regardless of the style of writing.. You do like the scientific style though? Well do you suppose you would like mystery as well?

I am more on the simple style. However, what interests me most in a book are the book's content and how the author presents his ideas.

Content is definitely important to me as well. If, however, I need a dictionary for every other word, I lose interest in the book. If I must read the book, like for a class, then I put up with the dictionary being a sidekick for as long as I am reading the text that exhausts me
