Why did you choose to live in the country you live in?

We had an open discussion about why we chose to live where we live and why we should either quit whining about it or get up and move. Real simple, if you do like it here, then do something about it. I was tired of hearing about the health care, the cost of living, how other countries do more or less for their citizens. We have choices. So if you are so unhappy , then why do you stay? I could not stay where I am so unhappy and make a life that is livable for me and my family, could you and why? Your thoughts?

It's not that easy to get out of here, but yes, I am doing something about it. And I promised to myself that in time I will be able to get myself out of here. The reason why I want to be out of here where I live, is to be with my family. When I go away I will surely miss all the fun things I do here and the people who have been with me all my life.

I completely understand about planning to move for a better life, but some people just complain not do anything about it. I think i just got fed up today, lol. Most of us do not plan for tomorrow but live for today. It is hard starting in a new place I will give you that. Shoot it is hard starting in another state let alone in another country. But these same people for 10 - 15 years complained about how things should be done, what is wrong with the world, etc... The comparison to other countries, my goodness be proactive not inactive in your community. Go to meetings, write to people that can change things, vote. Don't just sit back and let whatever happens happen and the moan and whine about it. Glad to hear that you are taking a stand in your future by making chioces on to live your life. Take care.

"Shoot it is hard starting in another state let alone in another country." I definitely agree with that statement! That does not meant that people should not move or try to better their situation, especially if they are really not happy where they are living, but it really does take a lot of courage for some people to pack up everything and move away from the community that they grew up in.

I didn't really choose to live here but i'm fine here. There are little bit of problems here and there but there's nothing i can't handle. Lol. Here, it's about how you carry yourself and how high your stress tolerance is.

True . we all have issues and we all have to deal with life. Everyone made a choice to stay once they became old enough to make that decision to stay. I find it funny when I hear people talk about their birth country like they have lived there all those years in comparison to the US and they have not been there for years. That is what gets me the most. I am sure that a country changes in 10 -15 years from when one remembers it. Just a lot of needless drama.

Hi newtalent for one thing for a lol of people in todays' lousy economy they may not have any choice as if they a re out of work like my own son is they may love to move but have not the funds to do so. I do understand though what you are saying, if you love where you are but hate some of the things going on , then fix it or move. to me I was born here and all that political garbage, the haranguing each other about the Universal health plan is just going right over my head, as I am 83 and love my country and am not going to move. things will come out right in spite of all the scrapping and please do not tell me all your arguments against the health plan as I will not listen to it any way. I was born an American and American I shall stay.

Lol, I have friends that their families live outside the US. I am constantly hearing their government takes care of them, and how we do not have so much crime, money being spent on garbage as they put it. I am happy where I am at, I just get tired of hearing how other places are better than the US. Yet these people are still living here and still whining comparing us to their other country. The sentence will start like "well if we are in such and such country this crap would not happen, They don't put up with behavior, practices, etc..' It is like, hello people, you are living in the US, and this is a different ball game the your other homeland. That is what is getting to me. I am with you though, I am not moving, maybe vacationing.

Actually, I had no other choice since birth to live here in our country since I was just born here. As I grow older, I feel now feel dissatisfaction with the kind of government we have, especially with our political leaders. If I were to choose, I would love to be in another country wherein the leaders are RIGHT whose top priority are the people. But I know that God provides balance to every thing. Even though country is infested with probably the most corrupt politicians and the most feared terrorists in the world, it is also blessed with all the wonders of nature that are just world-class. I believe that God has reasons for everything.

I think most of us just stay where we are at because leaving it would mean leaving our comfort zone. No one is really ready to do that unless they are confronted to do so. I would though explore other areas of the world to see if there situation is better than ours and make an educated decision if I felt so against staying where I am at right now. Even with all the issues at hand I am happy where I am at. If I cannot be a part of the solution then I will not add to the problem. The problem is where one person issues are at a higher degree of importance to another person. It is sad when we cannot come to an agreement or to a mutual understanding. Each country has a top priority and that differs from each citizen with an opinion.

Many people around me want to move into other country. They complain the bad weather, traffic, high cost of living and so on.Me too! But we have to stay in the bad place, why? First, most people do not have enough money to move. Second, yes we hate the bad place, but we have family, friend and others we are familiar. The last,we know there is not a perfect place in the world. For me ,if I have enough money,I want to have a trip to other place but never live in other place.

Very true , there is no perfect world, that is my point exactly. We should live life not complain about it and make comparisons. Life is borrowed time until ends. Enjoy it and your country.

Well in actual fact I did not choose but my parents chose well my father to be exact because his brother already lived there but we had to get out because like so many other people with similar stories there was a war and things were not looking good. There were a lot of others that just packed up their things and either went in hiding or just tried there hardest to migrate out. It is not easy that way but it makes the whole choosing thing a bit hard but if I had a choice I would choose to live in Canada as that is where my mother's family live and it sounds a bit like a dream minus the cold of course. I wonder if I could handle it there.

There are a lot of reasons that I would choose to live in the United States. I'm not going to deny that there aren't some things that I'm not happy about, but overall, I would say that there is far more that I am happy with than there are things that I am unhappy about. I love the fact that I am able to choose my own spouse and that the government is not limiting the number of children that I am having. In addition to that, I am happy that I am also able to choose my own destiny in life.

First, a lot of people believe that the unhappiness they live with now is better than the unknown unhappiness that they will have to endure if they move. Yes, the situation could be better, but what if it is worse? Second, if they want to move to a different country, then they have to learn new rules, laws, languages, etc. It is difficult enough getting a job nowadays in the country that you are born in without trying to get one in a place that you are unfamiliar with. Also, I see the way that people treat each other here, especially when they can't yet speak the language and haven't yet assimilated to the culture. I would definitely not want to go to another country and be treated that way if I was not fluent in the language and culture. Third, I might not always be happy with the way things are in this country, but I can't imagine living in any other one, either. I am proud to be an American, even if the rest of the world thinks that is a bad thing, although I do embrace the cultural diversity that makes this world interesting.

Hi new talent: I recognize that here in my country we have some problems, specially violence and corruption. Things seem to be really bad sometimes and I have thought that I can't stand on this situation but at the same time I think that there are so many positive things to fight for, my family for example and I love my country no matter his problems. I want to work to make this a better place. Thanks for asking me this question. ALVARO.

Well. to tell you honestly, I didn't chose to live where I am currently living right now. Or should I say, in this country where I am staying at present. I didn't chose it...I don't have a choice. Because if I do...I'm gonna leave here with my entire family and transfer in a better place on earth whereby we can really enjoy the fruit of our labor, happily and peacefully. We can work hard and receive better payment while enjoying the company of my families. People have no pity differences, no one is above the law, the government has been quite serious of serving the country and people, and their personal interest would be their last intent to achieve. These were some of the things I dream of, and can be place into reality.
