Out of my 20 years of life, i only owned 5 phones and I think that's a pretty decent number. I know most young teens now likes to have new phones every time a new one comes out. Poor parents right? New phone every year if not every months since new gadgets are coming out so fast.

I am 31 and have only owned 7. I think that is an ok number. I think I will stick with the one I have now for awhile before getting a new one. I do not see why some parents will buy their kids the most updated phones. But if they can afford it more power to them. But I know I can't.

I know what you mean. I actually have a friend who update his phone every 6 months and I think it's just awful. I mean he dont work, don't go to school and everything. I wouldn't want to raise my kids like that making them think they can always have this and that in the snap of a finger. Maybe some parents do such thing because they feel that it's the only way to keep them coming home every night. No?

with me I think it's been more like 25 years. My first actual cellular pone, I got free with free minutes, but only local calls. I worked for Cellularone in the telemarketing dept. We were able to get phones installed in our cars. They took $17.00 out of our check each month.(so I guess it wasn't free, but it felt like it.) So if you count that, it's 4. The first one that I bought was an Audiovox. I used that for awhile. The only reaqson I got another one is because I had to. The battery would only hold a charge for about five minutes and I couldn't buy another one because they no longer make those batterys. So I bought another one from a t mobile store. I had Verizen before. I went to T mobile because they were the only ones I could find that had a 19.95 a month plan. it was 19.95 and I got 75 minutes of air time. Most months I didn't use the whole 75 minutes. So I read about consumer cellular which has a $10.00 a month plan with no free minutes. That's the one for me and I will probably have this til who knows when.

hi camille, i first owned a cellphone way back in college days, year 2001 i guess and by that time i can remember my classmates have the ones that have antenna on it! that cellphone i was using lasted for 3-4 years and i sell it to buy new phone, which is i first bought (at my own salary) when i was working, that phone also lasted for 3 years and my sister bought a new one for me as a gift for my birthday, which is sadly got stolen from me after 5 months..so i bought new one again that i'm using as of now for 5 months.and to count i have owned 4 cellphones so far!not a bad thing! well,i can say my parents don't really buy cellphones for us.my father bought 2 cellphones(one for me and my sister) way back in college.that was my first cellphone and after how many years he bought again for himself to use as well.my other sisters also have cellphones which they bought on their own salary from work.it's better to have some personal things that you know you have strived hard to get than having them as a gift from your parents which have spoiled you! having things bought by your own hard work/efforts makes different impact on you! for this things will help you make importance of! you'll know how it feels like when you worked hard to achieve your personal things! i don't like people who just let go of their cellphones when it's really functioning well,it's like money is easy for them to get.when in fact living nowadays is really hard to achieve money.they never think of their parents who strived hard to just give what they want!
