where did the beggars go?

did that kind of thing ever happened in your country? beggars disappeared during the Shanghai World Expo.here i am in a university town in shanghai,but far away from the exhibition area.all the beggars here disappeared silently.most of them are old blindman,they used to beg to students by playing erhu fiddle for several years.

Is it possible the police have put pressure on them and forced them to leave? When we had the Olympics in Los Angeles, that is what happened. The city never looked so good - clean streets and parks and no beggars for the week. As soon as the Olympics were over they came back like before.
