I was at Walgreens today and saw a prepaid broadband package for $50 for a month..it looked pretty tempting. I live out in the boonies and would love to give it a try. I was wondering if anyone here has tried it or can give any advice on it.

Well the first thing to do is to call the company to see if they even serve at your address, and what is required. Now prepaid sounds good, but if you have the money to prepay $50 ahead wouldn't it be easier to pay $60 or less to your cellular company and have wireless internet access at your laptop? if you have a laptop that is, but sprint and verizon have some interesting choices to look into.

No laptop yet, been looking into getting one though so I don't have to sit here all day! Now verizon has awesome prepaid phones-I got my daughter one and it gets reception under our metal roof!? That's totally awesome. I will have to do just that-make sure they'll even work out here first. I'm tired of dial up-it's just too slow.

Oh I know the feeling, dial up is just too much of a sacrifice. From a little of experience while working with the phone company. We used to sell DSL service, the thing about it is that for DSL, it goes through the land line and your home has to be both within 18 thousand feet from the point of service and your closest service point has to be equipped for broadband service. Else, the price will either be higher then it needs to be or the service may not be available. The best choice may be to have cable internet access, even if its the slowest of all is better then dial up :)
