On June 8, 1967, US Navy intelligence ship USS Liberty was suddenly and brutally attacked on the high seas in international waters by the air and naval forces of Israel. The Israeli forces attacked with full knowledge that this was an American ship and lied about it. Survivors have been forbidden for 40 years to tell their story under oath to the American public. The USS Liberty Memorial web site tells their story and is dedicated to the memory of the 34 brave men who died.
I have to wonder the why it was done and why the cover up. Does the Israeli government really hold that much power over the united states? By the story line of the survivors it seems Israel was intent on capturing the USS Liberty and leaving not one crew member alive. Thank god they finally got a message out to the rest of the fleet.

It certainly would be interesting to know what's in the rest of the reports and what was on that ship. I think much of what has been kept secret involves what was on the ship, not that the Israeli government has that much power over the U.S. Why this has never been pursued/finalized is amazing...

I doubt anyone will ever get the full story in this life time. After all its been over 40 years and they still refuse to release any information on it or give an official explanation.

As long as the higher ups in the United States believe that Israel is God's plan to hasten the entire planet into the after-life, yes, Israel has that power over us. Eventually the number of people who keep voting those people into power will finally dwindle. It will probably take another three or four generations though.

I kind of feel the same way, although the question should be do we really have 3-4 generations.

EvanHunter, the US government would do anything for any reason! Do you know about the Plutonium experiment, the Tuskegee experiment, etc? Even the destruction of the World trade towers, I believe, were engineered by US government officials: There is no way that that many Arabs could have gotten into the cockpits of US planes unless they had been escorted by some high-ranking or well-recognized US official! Yes I know about the other stuff too. Sometimes I ask questions not for my own benefit (cause I already know the answer) but so that others will do the research on their own and come to truth on their own.

If you found out about it, it isn't really a coverup is it? I don't understand how people can make the US government out to be such genius conspirators then cite internet examples... It seems pretty easily explained most often.

Read the link it was suppressed for forty years, it took thirty years before the ships captain started to question it publicly and the navy and those involved at the top still refuse to talk about it.
