There is a certain workflow we go through when publishing online. First, we hatch an idea and then, we develop the idea until it is worth publishing. myLot can be made part of such a workflow. Bloggers can post a draft of their idea here at myLot and observe how prospective readers react. Through a process of continuous improvement, a literary piece materializes and ready for publication. Interestingly, there's the added benefit of getting paid for doing preliminary work here. But that is just icing on the cake. Anyway, the real benefit of posting here is constant activity. Writer's block? What is that?

But is there not also the possibility that someone may steal the idea and use the title that you have come with to write their blog? Where would that now leave you?

Even if a piece of writing is seen only at the date of publication, there is still no guarantee that it is unique. Frankly, there is little point in protecting an idea because in the first place, ideas alone are not protected by law. However, pieces of writings are copyrightable and are indeed protected by copyright at the moment of creation. But what is protected is the actual sequence of words or the expression of an idea. Anyway, this is not an issue for me because I'm using the Share-Alike Attribution in my blogs. This means I allow others to republish my work, but they should attribute the same to me.

I haven't thought about that but now I'm realizing that myLot is a great place to get feedback. It's not hard to get a quick answer when you start a new discussion. That answer can just make blog writers tune up their ideas and just improve their original post (the discussion) with any added thought after reading the mylotters responses. So basically myLot can be just a big blank canvas where writers can work on their ideas and also get paid.

Exactly. myLot is an online workspace for writers. You can easily build an inventory of work-in-progress pieces here and assemble it for publication elsewhere. We don't recognize it at first, but this is a good place where you can be messy trying a lot of raw ideas. A book can materialize here with pieces of seemingly random ideas strewn all over the place. Casual readers won't recognize it, but there is a writer behind this mess who is hard at work to improve the power of his words.
