We have had to suffer at the hands of a Prime Minister who was never elected, it now looks like we may once again be put in this situation! I for one cannot believe that Clegg and his Lib Dems who got the least seats in the election, who were completely ignored by the majority of the UK population is now in the position of 'King Maker'as he chooses who is going to be HIS playmate in teh British Government. Shouldn't this discision be given to the party who won the most seats!!!

In Britain we have a parliamentary democracy, not a presidential one. We don't vote for a Prime Minister, we vote for MPs. If we have a government whose MPs were elected by more than 50%, combined, then surely this is more democratic than a system where one party, in this case Labour, could have won a parliamentary majority with less than 40% of the votes?

The entire system is flawed and it is long overdue that we switched to proportional representation. The problem is that most people just voted for the party they dislike the least and not because they had good policies. Too much corporate influence on politics has meant that the mainstream parties are very similar because they are being funded by the same people (those who win no matter who is in power).

"If voting changed anything they'd make it illegal" - Emma Goldman The best we can hope for is for them ALL to wake up and realise how peeved we all our. Look on the bright side, the best government we ever had was a coalition. During the War we were governed by committee and that worked - of course, perhaps they need an outside "enemy" to make them put aside their differences and actually work for the good of the Nation instead of themselves. We can but hope!
