The Monster in your living room

In every home there is a monster lurking. Sometimes there'll only be one oftentimes there'll be more than that. These monsters even exist in kitchens and sometimes in bathrooms. They've also invaded cars but that'll be a different story for another day. What monster am I talking about? Why it's the Television Set! The TV has been around for so long that it's already a part of our lives. Now I'm not really saying the TV is a bad invention but when we abuse it and spend hours and hours glued to the TV and letting real life pass us by in exchange for the fantasy of living the lives you see on TV in your minds... then that's when it becomes a monster. A monster draining you of brain cells and the ability to think for yourself. The ability to be productive. Ever wondered why it's also called as the "Idiot Box?" Try to assess just how much time you spend in front of the TV and think of other things you could've done which would've been a more productive way to spend your time. Don't let the monster get you

Good topic..although I think you have posted in the wrong discussion category, but that's alright. There's always a next time.. Speaking of the TV, oh yeah..it's a one-eyed monster from what I think, LOL..got all of us hooked on the set and not moving away, ha! The TV is so addictive, has always been a part of our lives and I think in future generations, the influence of TV is going to expand, either for the good or bad.

I sort of feel the same way about the computer too. I spend way too much time on my laptop rather than the television. I also try to limit myself from it. Take care

Not sure if I'm double posting-refresh error again.. I rarely watch tv..only on the weekends when chiller and syfy have the good stuff on..there's nothing on I'm interested-well except Ghost Hunters on Wed. My kids pretty much control the tv...I'm usually here trying to make a buck..but now that I think about it... the internet is just as addictive!

fortunately i am too glued to my laptop that i hardly watch TV, save for news. we only have 1 tv, and it's stationed in the living room. i preferred our rooms to have no TV inside, but my daughter's room has, but only for videos.

I dont quite agree a television is an idiot box because am always watching tv like news, current affairs, discovery channel, history channel, national geographic channel and also there are shows even helps to improve my english and also helps learn new fashion and lifestyle. All it can say is it depends on who is watching it, what program they usually on. If they watch shows that is no sense at all, maybe it would be idiotic and that I would agree with it. But for now many shows that are really good and nice. It helps us to learn and change our views in what is going on to our world and maybe we can be of help because of the information that shares us is as important.

I like the monster though ;) To be serious though , I do moderate my T.v watching time. The T.V is just a way for me to relax after a long school day or a long week , so that I have the energy to do something productive. I do know that the T.V can consume people's lives though and I'm pretty sure this is the reason behind procrastination, besides the computer. It's just so addicting... :0 There's an advert on TV in my country which essentially asks if you'd rather see your boring life flash before your eyes when you're about to die or all the television shows you watched. Then it tells you to go their website to catch up on television shows. LMAO. "Let's persuade the viewers to watch even more T.V!" XD
