This was the Presidential election down to the local. Whew, it was supposedly the nation's first time ever automated elections, yet as news all over the country bumped out, it was a bit hilarious. Several places in the country had lots of bombings, killings between candidates and sever intrigues were taken out to monopolize or even to ruin such one reputation. Take as example in our remote area, in my town in BOHOL. It was both sides vote buying ranging from 20 PHP from the candidates of councilors to 100 PHP. The vice-mayoralty candidates also bet for the 150 PHP to 200 PHP per voter. And the mayoralty candidate? What a dashing 700 to 1000 PHP per voter. Not yet enough? In some neighboring municipalities, the vote buying ranged from 5,000 PHP to 10,000 PHP per head. Wow!!!!! What can you say about it? Take your opinion regarding this matter. What's your experiences too?

Wow, 5K to 10K? That's a lot. I've only heard candidates buying votes for as much as 1.5K and that's about it. The sad part is both candidates for the mayoralty slot are vote buying and they're the only ones fighting over the position. What you can do is accept the money and just do the opposite. Unless they have a way to validate that you voted for them, they wont really know if you voted for them or not.

It's true, both sides of the mayoralty bets were really buying votes. I guess this system is already a routine for candidates. If you don't have money, don't run for candidacy even if you have a long list of best projects and educational qualifications as well as good attitude and leadership. Otherwise, if you have lots of money and you are only a grader....you can have a position in the government. What a shame in the part of being a Filipino.....

hmmm i'd take a video camera and I'd make sure who's buying the vote. Then we'll all collect them in a web site and get people to make signed affirmations of these videos ... It's gonna be another high-earning season for lawyers and we could rid off some of the bad candidates :) when Comelec decides who broke the law., I think... What do you think?

The candidates were also lawyers and they were the ones exerting money for vote buying. I remember one of the poll of Caesar Montano sai "He won't win because he never exert money even a single a centavo even if he is a celebrity". That he was true because of the result said that he was only 3rd in rank among the candidates of governor in BOHOL. My bro's friend announced because he was working in one of the banks in BOHOL that the entire withdrawals for one day took around 100M for 100 bills and 50 bills respectively. Imagine????
