Did you ever fall asleep during a class in school?

I had my share of good teachers who could make the class interesting. Then I had a few teachers that gave long, winding lectures that had little to no point other than eating up class time and they were boring. While I do not recall falling asleep, there were times where I was nodding off. Others around me did succumb to sleeping and it is very amusing, especially when the teacher goes on with their lecture like nothing happened. I think some of these teachers really missed their calling. They should be recording those lectures and selling them to people who have trouble going to sleep. They would make a fortune. So, were there any times where you drifted to sleep at school? Looking forward to reading your responses.

If that works, then just as well. Of course, I tend to fight sleep, because I am a type of person that either I sleep or I do not. And when I do go to sleep, it is normally the point of no return for a while. Thank you for your response, it is much appreciated and it contributed to the topic well. Have a nice day and thanks.

I used to feel asleep in class. I remember feeling asleep in my BS class. The class teacher found me sleeping in class and asked me to stand up till the class was over. I think she felt embarassed seeing me sleeping in the class. The reason for my sleep was not because the class was boring. I tried to control the sleep, but it didn't work.

Yes, there can be circumstances. It is really bad when the teacher notices. You just wonder how they may feel sometimes to be honest. They could doubt themselves if they truly have any passion for their profession. Thank you for your response, it is much appreciated and it contributed to the topic well. Have a nice day and thanks.

Yes, participating in the discussion does help. Also, taking a lot of notes tends to keep my mind up. Thank you for your response, it is much appreciated and it contributed to the topic well. Have a nice day and thanks.

I never tried sleeping in class, because every time I feel sleepy I make myself busy so that my mind will stay awake to absorb the lectures of my teachers. And I try to participate in the discussion so as to keep me alert and active.

I am happy to say that i never fell asleep in school. i did habe classmates who did though. Condsequences of these actions can be harsh reprimands from the teacher. it is best to remain alert in class.

Very, true it is best to remain alert. It is unfortunate that there are battles that some cannot win against boredom or whatever and thus they succumb. Still I commend you for your willpower in never falling asleep. Thank you for your response, it is much appreciated and it contributed to the topic well. Have a nice day and thanks.

Yes, it is always lucky not to be caught. Most likely, the teacher did not care enough to call attention or since you were in college, you had paid for the right to fall asleep. When the education is free, I guess there's more caring about it. Thank you for your response, it is much appreciated and it contributed to the topic well. Have a nice day and thanks.

Hehehe. That was funny, it recalls me when I was in the fourth grade. My teacher always scolded me for sleeping in class while lecturing. I'm usually be the victim of the chalk which my teacher threw me when I am sleeping and sometimes I've taken at the back facing the wall blank. It was memorable and funny.

Well throwing chalk, that would get your attention for sure. I doubt teachers could get away with doing something like that these days. Given how lawsuit happy that people tend to be. Still that must have been quite the experience. Thank you for your response, it is much appreciated and it contributed to the topic well. Have a nice day and thanks.

YES! I fall asleep every minute, every second, every lecture, every lesson, every class. I believe I am hyper active and as long as I am made to sit for at least half an hr straight to listen to something interesting or boring, if I am focused on a point for long, I get sleepy. I can even fall asleep sittinf down talking to my friend at a table. It might be because I don't eat breakfast as well? I used to be able to concentrate until I reached secondary school when my mother stops preparing breakfast for me and I was expected to eat in school. As long as I get to stand and move around in between like 15 mins, I'm ok, but not sitting down except I'm on the net doing something I like like now, else even MMORPG games can make me sleep. LOL

I think it may be because you do not eat breakfast. I know when I went to school, it took me a long time to function when I did not eat breakfast. In fact, I really did not start being able to focus good enough until after lunch. Thankfully most of the mentioned boring teachers were in the afternoon. Thank you for your response, it was much appreciated and it contributed to the topic well. Have a nice day and thanks.

I was the master of sleeping in class. I had trained myself to sleep with my eyes open. I could totally zone out and then someone next to me would say something and I would jump or immediately start writing something on the paper. The bad part was what I wrote made absolutely no sense.

I think there were times where when I was completely awake, what I wrote made no sense. Perhaps that is just me. Still, I think that many people zone out from time to time. Thank you for your response, it is much appreciated and it contributed to the topic well. Have a nice day and thanks.

Hi there, To be honest, that things really happened to me when I was in a classroom, even there was no teacher talking boring stuff. Everyday I felt really energetic execpt being in a class. Whatever the content of the class, I would fall asleep incredibly fast. But one exception, that is when I was playing psp games and I could stay clearly. You may indicate that I WAS not a good student, and yes you are right.

You are far from the minority in this fact. There are a lot of people that I went to school with who went just through the motions. There was very little that could get them interested. They would lull off. Its not all that uncommon. Thank you for your response, it is much appreciated and it contributed to the topic well. Have a nice day and thanks.

That is one of the disturbing mysteries of life that I doubt I want to know the answer to. There were a few people who drooled when they fell asleep. I just feel sorry for the people who used their desks come next period. Thank you for your response, it is much appreciated and it contributed to the topic well. Have a nice day and thanks.

I'm a class sleeper too. If our professor was boring, I'd suddenly doze off. Or whenever I feel so sleepy and I can't take it anymore, I'll seat at the very back of the class behind whoever might keep me away from the professor's sight. LOL.

Back of the room always seemed to be the best place if you wanted to be noticed. Especially if it is off in the corner. Thank you for your response, it is much appreciated and it contributed to the topic well. Have a nice day and thanks.

Indeed, that is a gold mine. It really depends on the teacher if they call you out on it or not. There could be warfare going on and some teachers may just keep going on. Thank you for your response, it is much appreciated and it contributed to the topic well. Have a nice day and thanks.

I fell asleep a few times in school, it wasn't because of it being boring though, (even if I was often bored in some of my classes. lol) I started to fall asleep because of a medication I was on, and I hated it. I got behind in the class and it was during my senior year (last year of school) that it was happening.

Well, circumstances, that's understandable and all. Yeah, that can really be bad times if it is the last year in school. Thank you for your response, it is much appreciated and it contributed to the topic well. Have a nice day and thanks.

i ever sleep during class, but it wasn't cause by bored. Because I feel sick or dizziness. If i feel bored with the teacher, i will do another thing, but didn't disturb the class such as drawing or imagine something that will make me awake.

Well yeah, that is always understandable. I remember in grade school where I was not feeling good but it was like an hour to go before we were to leave anyway, so there is no point in really going home. Thankfully the last period was a study hall, so I just rested my head done. Turns out that the teacher did not really care, as long as we were out of his hair and quiet. Thank you for your response, it is much appreciated and it contributed to the topic well. Have a nice day and thanks.

Wow, that must have been quite the experience. Most times teachers do not care enough to even wake the students up. Of course, I am remembering my experiences from later grades, so it could be different in the lower grades. Thank you for your response, it is much appreciated and it contributed to the topic well. Have a nice day and thanks.
