Heartbreak is usually associated with losing a spouse or loved one, though losing a parent, child, pet, or close friend can also "break one's heart". The phrase refers to the physical pain one may feel in the chest as a result of the loss. Although "heartbreak" is usually a metaphor, there is a condition - appropriately known as "broken heart syndrome" - where a traumatizing incident triggers the brain to distribute chemicals that weaken the heart tissue. In many legends and fictional stories, characters die after suffering a devastating loss. But even in reality, people die from what appears to be a broken heart. The Broken Heart Syndrome is commonly blamed for the death of a person whose spouse is already deceased, but the cause is not always so clear-cut. The condition can be triggered by sudden emotional stress caused by a traumatic breakup or the death of a loved one. Yes, you read it right. Having a broken heart can cause death. So if you're having a broken heart because your loved one died or broke up with you, try as much as possible to be calm. Have a nice day Mylotters! ;)
