I wonder if Chris Matthews actually listens to himself

in watching this video clip, I saw it as people would rather follow Rush than Chris. Maybe I read too much into this. What do you think?

Politics has some extremely weird standards.
If any liberal had a following like Rush, he or she would be considered a GOD.
I think part of Chris' BS is that he is, in all reality, a simple entertainer. Regardless of what he did before or what he'll do after, he's an entertainer. So much of his crap just comes across as pure jealousy - that goes for a lot of the less popular lib talkers railing on about conservative talkers being detrimental to a society and all that.
The rest of it is just ideology. Not only do guys like Chris think people should follow them, but they completely forfeit any semblance of "news" and work solely to effect change.
Chris listens to himself every single day. He lives willingly in the country's greatest echo chamber.
Whether or not a guy like Chris actually buys everything he's selling is another story. On one hand, I fall back on that entertainer/ideology aspect blending and creating a one-sided approach that always leads to double standards and his way or the highway. On the other hand, these guys HAVE to know by now that their brand of entertainment is not what the American public wants.
I don't particularly like Rush, but I suspect out of all the millions that do, not every one is thrilled about Rush's every stance. I'm sure there's dissent among listeners. But when compared to the competition, the shills for progressive policy don't even bother with common sense. It's always all about their righteousness on EVERY SINGLE LITTLE ISSUE.
And more to that, nobody in disagreement likes to be called names. With uberlibs, you are not allowed any breathing room whatsoever. If you're not on board, you're a racist, terrorist in training, a bigoted Christian, or a blind oppressor of some sorts.
I think, in terms of ideology and common sense principles, people would much rather follow Rush than Chris. Both are entertainers. Both are reactionary ideologues. But Rush's side won't rip your entire life to shreds for being a nonconformist. They'll leave some for another day.

lol thank you for your articulate answer. I agree. I also believe that Rush spouts more truth and common sense and he does it in a way that is much more acceptable to my little brain. I listen to Chris (rarely) and he seems so angry with nothing to back it up. Rush puts a humorous spin on it with audio and video clips to back up what he says. I will never ever agree totally with Limbaugh. But I agree mostly with him. I do not choose to listen to him everyday but dad does, I try to block alot of it out because there is only so much a person can take.

I don't blame him. I remember when my dissent against Bush and dislike of the Iraq war was considered Un-American by Rush and his ilk. Now the shoe is on the other foot and dissent is patriotic.
It looks like he's looking for Republicans who disagree with Rush. I bet I can think of a couple, but no one is going to shoot their political career in the foot over a childish display like this.

20+ million people listening to Rush vs. less than a million for Chris, how could anyone see it other than the way you have.

I always assume when a news agency or news pundit goes after Rush they were having a lazy day and just did not want to read the AP wires for real news.
I did catch Chris and I get his point. He, like me, used to consider himself conservative/republican and he is looking for a republican that will stand up and take leadership. If you cannot stand for an occasional truth because you are affraid of a bubble head radio dug addict then you do have a leadership problem.
I have always wanted to meet Rush just to see if he is a real sociopath or if he is just an act to make lots of money. His New York Apartment is up for sale, it looks like a Paris Museum for fine art. It is on the market for under 100 million dollars.

Not for all Republicans. There are plenty of Republicans that dont care for him,l they just arent interested in this game. Why do you think he hasnt been pushed into office? he is a talking head and has gone lengths to push a conservative agenda. The Republicans are not conservative. How in the world did McCain win the primary in 08?
