When I first started I had a lot of banners in my profile. But, since my blog is doing well, I just promote a couple newer sites or ones that are giving free upgrades. But, I do list my blog link.
Profiles in general are very important. I have mentioned this in many discussions...profiles are your chance to showcase yourself and your online interests with others. I have known many people over the years that do well without ever having their own website...they just have many great profiles.
Yes, I am always looking at other member profiles...sometimes it is important to so before commenting on their discussions.

I think profile pages can be extremely important if we want them to be. Each of us uses myLot in a different way from another of course.
I use other sites for some online earning ventures and I promote them in my profile. I also promote my entire profile page outside myLot. I have added my referral link to it and by doing this I am just promoting one link (the URL to my profile page) but I gain visibilty to all the sites that are situated there and 'risk' gaining referrals both for myLot and on those sites.
Others may not be interested in gaining referrals so they might not be aware of the portential that our profile page holds or interested in making use of it.

A profile page serves a good purpose for members who intend to continue using Mylot on a regular basis. The ability to personalise the page is similar to someone personalising their own computer with desktop wallpaper etcetera and allows us to feel that it is our own personal environment.
I also find viewing profile pages to be a good way to check how serious a member is about Mylot because it takes time to format it and shows that a person intends to remain here.

Ho Oldchem,
Indeed. If someone responds to our comments, we are eager to see who he/she is and feel good when we go through their profile. It makes a good sense and attachment too. Even though we are not going to meet or see in our life time we feel a different kind of attachment. I feel that profile has some strong power.
Regards,
Thank-s

To me, it is very important to know where the person comes from, and sometimes their age. Then I can write a response which perhaps has clearer, simpler English for our Asian friends, as an example. Other times, some slang terms for the Brits, and so forth. The great thing about mylot is the fact that it is international, but sometimes, it is nice to tailor a response to the particular person.

Profile is not important for me
I must explain why
I received invitations for friendship on another site, I found some blogs and profiles very nice
I send messages to make banner exchange
Result : I receive no response, even for politeness
Profile for me is not equal with human nature

I agree that having a good profile page does not necessarily reflect the character of a member, but it still serves a purpose of interest to us. You claim that it is not important but you have taken the time and trouble to personalise your own, so you must consider it worthwhile to some degree.

Yes Chem, a profile page is the gateway to any program fro a participant! Thus it should be well regarded and taken care of! I also visit at least five profile pages of different persons in one sitting of myLot! By visiting and appreciating the profile pages of many persons, I have developed my friends to an appreciable number more than one-thousand by this time here! Most of my friends are the regular composer of myLot and responders of my discussions! In my opinion, I must admit that profile page in mtLot is the carrier of our association and care with myLot! In these recent days, myLot has modified the profile pages, showing more data and facts about mylotters!
Thanks for this nice posting and hope you an attractive profile page and visiting well others' profile pages!!

in mylot, i dont think its important as its not a dating site where profile matters as you need to know more about the person whom your talking with to make sure they are legit or not, unless your interested to know that person here in mylot then if so, better yet personally send them a message to get to know them better, as most of members are just here to earn money. besides, mylot admin have all our information like complete address even our email address, complete name and etc., i choose to hide some information about myself in my profile here in mylot due for personal reason, as most of my post here are too personal and i dont want anyone to know me personally. i respect those who keep theyre profile hidden as theyre reason might be similar to mine, though in dating site or in facebook or other social site, i guess its matter as like what i said, you need to know better that person. but mylot is not a dating site.

I feel they are very important, except i do not need everyone to see my city or in my case town. I like to know whom i have made friends with, such as interests, age, country.
I sometimes comment on my mother in-law and do not feel it is any of my husbands family to know. We do not tell her much about me, as i have RA and she says some mean hings that are uncalled for.

It must be important because our profiles represent ourselves. It's like a driver's license , which denotes all of our mylot details. like day joined Mylot ,etc, etc.
