Desperate measures...

I heard about a funny incident the other day. There is an attractive young telephonist named Brook who works for one of our local radio stations here and she is not short of men asking her out on a date. Now...There’s asking someone out or there’s almost knocking them out while they are driving on a busy freeway! Brook was driving to work a few days ago along the freeway during morning peak traffic when a car pulled up along side her. The occupants of the car were two young men who clearly found Brook very appealing because one of them wrote his number on the label of a half full water bottle and attempted to throw it through Brook’s open window…They missed and the bottle landed on the road. Brook was clear about what the guy was attempting to do because he showed her the bottle and gestured for her to call him. Stupidity? Ah...Yes, he could have caused an accident with that bottle and it could have hit the young lady he was pursuing. Brook had to laugh once she got over her annoyance at the innovative way this man was trying to ask her out on a date.
People have at times asked others out in unusual ways. One guy followed his ‘sweetheart’ down the park where she took her dog everyday, called the dog to him and refused to return him to her until she gave him her number. Desperate measures? Perhaps, but it worked because they are married now. It’s been a very long time since I was asked out and the last time someone did it was very conventional and I ended up marrying him. I thought these two incidents were amusing enough to pose the question, have you ever being asked out in an unusual way? Have you ever had bottles thrown at you or had your pet kidnapped? Perhaps you were the bottle thrower and kidnapper...Do share...
By the way the lady who had her dog kidnapped had the animal stolen a while later, strange hub? She knew it wasn’t him this time...

Hey Paula! Those are very interesting stories you have shared and though I do not have anything to contribute by way of a relevant response[ you know all about our conditioned upbringing and how conventional we are though I am slightly different in the sense that my husband and I were a rare breed who were allowed to have a private conversation for a few minutes [and we spoke for 1 hour to the dismay of our eldres
] I had to drop in to say that the incidents were were very interesting.THe second and third episodes
were very sweet.

Hi kalav! I guess not too many people have experienced strange ways of getting asked out on a date, I know I haven't! It is interesting to find out how people from different cultures got together. When I met my husband I was in my thirties and I was living on my own so I could do as I pleased but when I was younger and living with my parents I was not allowed to go out with a boy unless it was during the day...It seems so long ago now...Thanks for dropping in my friend!

Oh, yes, I've been reading your little flirts with the Lamb, they are so fun! I'm pretty boring too, I never had anyone ask me out in a way that is somewhat different either. Maybe I should find someone to flirt with (LOL)!

I did wander how the dog reacted to the whole thing! Maybe he too knew this man was a good one...I don't think I would be too happy if someone took one of my pets and blackmailed me...Unless he was really good looking! (LOL)Thanks gabs, hi to Gissi!

Never tried anything outlandish when asking a girl out, if she didn't answer yes the first time, and I was very keen, I would persist, but never kidnap her cat, or anything like that. Stupid person writing his number on a bottle tag, makes it easy for the cops to trace. Throwing a missile from a car is an offence, I believe.

It sure is! Brook didn't need to go out with this one in order to find out he's an idiot, he proved it all by himself before he even got a date! Love men who are keen and don't give up the chase! Thanks Mike!

Hi Paula, Thanks for sharing these stories. It has been so long since I was asked out I honestly can't remember any strange ways of being asked. One guy told me he was rich and owned jaguars cars etc and I thought he was blagging as had realluy scruffy clothes, he told me a really posh area that he lived in so at the time I was house sitting in an area even posher and I was their and heard a sports car pull up and sent the maid to answer the door, it was him and he really was who he said he was as he had a coffee then left his businesss cad. He did in fact own a whole garage of classic cars, Ellie blushes, and he told me to pop in one day. Well I did but only to explain I had thought he was blagging and that I was a single parent living on a housing estate in the next town really. He thanked me for being honest and we had a laugh. I did go out with him for a couple of years and he did propose but not the one for me so we went our separate ways. We are still in contact as friends though. Huggles. Ellie :)

It is nice that you are you are still friends; some things are just not meant to be...My husband told me he was in the Special Army Forces or something along those lines on the night we met and I believed him! He was lying of course and it normally would have put me off him but for some reason it didn't and I'm glad now because in 16 years I've had no other reason not to trust him so I figure that's got to be good! (LOL) Thanks so much ellie, it's nice to hear from you!

I think that is how Brook must have felt when a bottle was almost thrown at her! At least she doesn't have to go out with him to find he's an idiot! I haven't had anything too creative either... Thanks Jen, appreciate the response!

Ha!Ha! Not only he came back but he stayed for a really long time! How odd you mum should ask you to go out with him just to tell him to disappear! I think she might have known he wasn't going anywhere! Thanks pat!
