It's a neck-and-neck race for VP

With less than a million votes separating Binay and Roxas, and with over 5M votes still not counted, it's anybody's game. Care to venture a guess as to who won this election? Was it Binay or Roxas? Why do you think so? Between the two, who would you rather win? Why?

this is what we call a race har har har. during the campaign period there was a news leaking that Binay is truly suporting Noynoy and not Erap. so if this is true then i guess Binay will be winning for the people who supports Noynoy must have voted for Binay than for Roxas. but for me i would like Roxas to win (not a fan i go for Bayani) so that we can all see what a president and a vice from the same party can do and make for a better Philippines. just my opinion

I voted for Bayani too, despite the unceasing campaigning by my relatives for Mar.:-) I heard that too. I think though that Binay was making full use of his unique position in history. Among the candidates, he is the only one who can say that he was close to Cory. At the same time he is using the powerful appeal of Erap to the masses. He was not making any of that up, but was merely taking full advantage of the situation. I am curious too how we will fare if the president and the vice-president are on the same side.

Yes having a very small margin against the topnotcher in the race is still anybody's game still. I really hope that the remaining 5M votes would be counted so that the true winner will be revealed.

Me too, the margin is so small and the votes uncounted is still more than enough to swing the votes. Both candidates are acceptable to me even though I voted for Bayani. I am just worried about all the violence I see in the news. I do hope that this is over soon.

I could just imagine if Binay would be overtaken if the uncounted votes are the ones favorable with Roxas. From the very start, he leaded the counts and will just be overtaken by the remaining counts. I think Binay would call it foul. That is why Comelec should be very careful now that the margin is very delicate at the moment. The public is already conditioned that Binay is leading and if they found our the final counts favor Roxas would cast some doubts already as to how that happened.

That's true, that is why the Comelec has stopped announcing their results and have stepped behind the defense that it is Congress who will declare the winner. I am pretty sure these two camps know who is the real winner and are both putting up a brave front. I would have admired if one of them stepped up and conceded so that the public's trust in elections will be regained. Sadly, none of them are gentlemen enough to admit loss.

I wish Binay wins. I heard yesterday that their difference is just about 700,000 votes. I really believe that Binay will still wins this one and compare to Mar, Binay already proved that he is can be a vice-president from the works he had done in Makati. I really reall hope that Binay win it. Binay can be a good candidate for President too.

I am not really particular about these two candidates. I neither dislike them or like them. Both have their respective strengths that they can bring to the table.

dear theadvocate, i prefer if mar wins over binay because we want new leaders to excel and to change the trend of the politics, "kakasawa na yung dati". but i know both works real well. i am more of a fan of bayani because he is the real working guy (masagasaan na ang dapat sagasaan - merong political will). i hope he is given a good post in the government this term. ann

Hello tigeraunt! Me too, I voted for Bayani because of his political will. I am from Marikina so I saw how he transformed this city. Plus, I really saw him work during Ondoy. I saw him personally going around inspecting the work of his people. I can stomach either Mar or Binay as VP, although Mar looks better especially on TV. Since we might have a president with a thinning hairline, might be better if our VP looks good, otherwise the international community might think we are a nation of ugly politicians. :-)

hi there, I honestly would go for Sen. Mar Roxas because he has been in the senate for quite sometime and as for me he is capable to take the job. He is credible as a senator and also has a qualification to be a president of our republic. Besides, Noynoy need Mar since they have both the same advocacy and share same interest and platform. I think with Binay who is an opposition there will be some arguments for sure when they will work together.

I have to agree that we need our leaders to be on the same page so that we can move into the next century. It seems that Roxas and Noynoy's platforms are the same. I also admired the way he stepped down from the race to give way to Noynoy and his willingness to work hard on Noynoy's campaign when he was under attack by Villar's camp. Although of course, we do not know if Binay's platform will not work with Noynoy.

Only God knows who's gonna win. Honestly I did not vote for any of them. My candidate was Bayani Fernando. At any rate, both candidates have good records to boast and hopefully any one of them would be a good VP for Noynoy. It would be just a big blow on Roxas should he lose this election. He was winning all along in the surveys and I'm sure he was confident he would win. But alas, something came in the way. I believe the endorsement of Chiz Escudero did a big help to Binay and I believe Chiz is the most hated creature in Roxas camp.

Me too, I decided to buck the trend and vote for the one I know can make the difference. Sadly, he did not make it, but it's okay, at least I voted with my conscience. :-) The reason for Binay's surge has been the subject of a lot of speculation. Personally it was a combination of Mar's complacence in his numbers and Binay's solid groundwork. I have to admire his networking, it really boosted his numbers at the right time. One positive effect of the neck-and-neck race is that the Comelec will have to be very careful in counting each vote.

I wouldn't like to guess; but I hope Roxas will win because he and Noynoy have some kind of chemistry that make our country free from corrupt government officials. Of course if not totally wiped out maybe more better than GMA's administration. Binay's affiliation with Erap is one thing that I don't approve.

That's true. I admired his supreme sacrifice of stepping aside in favor of Noynoy even though he was all set to run. I agree that he and Noynoy seem to good friends which to me is important if they are to lead us out of this mess. I am not too keen also of Binay's alliance with Erap because I have never liked Erap.
