Sharp double standard

It's an absolutely HUGE double standard. And the ONLY way to argue against it being a double standard is to actually play further into the double standard. Example as an Arizona basher and healthcare supporter: "Oh, but they're not really the same things. We're talking about a bill that's aimed at making healthcare better in America vs. an anti-Latino bill that will lead to racial profiling." Even making it cleaner with "an anti-immigration bill that might lead to racial profiling" is still just as speculative as anyone was over the healthcare legislation. So there's no avoiding it. It's a huge double standard. But it's actually one that's considered okay. Since Latinos are an American minority, some folks view this as a flashback to the Jim Crow days and worse. So they're standing on fighting injustice - something more noble in their minds than fighting against government control (even though the racial injustice is 100% hypothetical).

The number of people in favor of or against something doesn't matter to the democrats in congress. Obama's made it very clear that he needs to explain to those people what their core values are, as clearly, Americans are too stupid to know what's good for them.
