Hiring freeze and no pay raise!

I hear,at work,they have put a hiring freeze! I hope this not just in the department,food srevice,where I work! The food service always gets screwed! We neeed a whole new kitchen! We are short handed and have been almost a year! Summer is here and in a few weeks we could use another person when we get real busy! it really bites! The college is more worried about the athletic department and building more dorms for students! Never mind us! the people who feeds everyone and rarely gets any credit for it! No raise well we did not get one in 2008 and were lucky we got one in 2009! I am not surprised about that. I just think the college is lying about the hiring freeze because we are not important enough! It sucks!

I think due to the world is suffering from recession that is one thing that causes companies from companies to freeze hiring. My company has the same situation. Even my team also is affected. Thats one reason why my boss dont want to promote me from one department because when I leave the team nobody will replace me and that will lack my team manpower. Its really crappy to think that they dont hire people but then they are earning big. So crap!

We have been short handed in the salad department at the college I work at for almost a year! Instead of hiring a full time oerson they have a casual part-time person come in when needed. It is ok but this person has this job only because a parent works in another department! We would be better off with a full-time person then a part-time person who can be lazy,won't listen to what needs to be done and drives everyone nuts! it makes no sense! I know the college is making money even though they say they aren't! I think they are full of crap!

i have experienced that in my previous company. reasoning is that our industry has been greatly affected by the world financial crisis. we didn't have any raise since 2008, no company outings, no parties too. there's freeze hiring too but only hires when there is a great need or if an employee quits and the management feels that he/she should be replaced. redundancy packages were offered too.

I don't get the college I work at! they seem to spend money so freely sometimes you wonder what the heck is going on! They say alot of the new buildings for students and the athletic deartments are all funded by donations! I sometimes don't by it! They continue to have parties at Christmas time and give people who work at the college gifts. They say it comes out of the alumni fund but I wonder if it comes from somewhere else! I know student enrollment has been down but it has been drastc! I think the college is full of bull in alot of places!

I dont expect any pay raise in companies these days especially not the company where I am working for right now. I dont think they ever know that that is in the labor laws and anything that they do that is against the labor law could put them in trouble.
