Dear friends... I just got to know from my boss that my shift timings(Office timings) would change from tomorrow (Monday). Till Friday it was from 7am to 5.30pm... Now, it has changed drastically... The new schedule is from 3pm to 12.30am... Many of my colleagues groaned at it... Many got happy! I am a little bit happy that I'll not have to wake up early in the morning now.. I am pretty much used to sleeping late in the night, so sleeping at 1.30am etc wouldn't bother me a lot.. And as I work in the BPO industry, I am pretty much aware that my shift timings would change after every two weeks... Dear buddies, do you face it too? How do you cope with it? Many of them aren't willing to join BPOs because of the changes in Shift... What do you think about it????

I haven't experience that. But I think your new shift is great compared with those that needs to wake up early. As for me its ok to change my shift as long as its not night shift. I'll resign first before they put me in a night shift. The increase in pay is nothing compared to the joy of sleeping in night. :D

If my shift had changed like that I would be looking for another job. I wouldn't have a way home. The buses stop around 10pm. I had a set schedule for many , years amd then last May it totally changed. I went from Wednesday -Friday to Mondays,Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. It took some time but I like it now.I have a work week that is the opposite. Monday is Friday. Tuesday is Saturday, etc.Good Luck with your new schedule.

Yeah Sarah, I don't have to worry about transportation.. That is the benefit of being in Customer Care Services... I care for the customers and the company cares for me.. How come your work start on Friday? So you have week offs on Wednesday and Thursday? Which industry you work for?

Hi Sarah... I can understand your problem with the transportation... Thankfully, I don't have to worry about it, as the company has provided us with cabs for the everyday round trip from home to office and from office to home... I didn't understand one thing though, what is meant by 'Monday is Friday' and 'Tuesday is Saturday'... What does it mean???

Hi Mr_pearl! My sister has this same problem as yours. She didn't liked the late night schedules when she first started but she got used to it. And the advantages for her, is that she can sleep more, and make more things during the day because she will work late at night. She doesn't like too when her schedule is changed every two weeks. But at least at her office, they announced it one or two weeks before so you can plan ahead. Especially when it pertains to day offs. If I were to work in the BPO industry. I would prefer the 3pm to 12:30am. Because I don't sleep well at night. I am somehow an insomniac. So I sleep late. And prefer sleeping during the day. I don't know why. I feel my sleep is more peaceful during the day. Even if my brothers, daughter and dad are around, watching the television or listening to music. It doesn't bother me. The only thing that bothers me, especially now, when I sleep during the day, is the excruciating heat. (^^,)

Hi Friend... thanks for sharing... I have been in BPO industry for the past one year and I know the frequent changes in shift timings and the annoyance caused to the employees.. However, I am too, like your sister, used to it now and the changes bother me the least... I am somewhat like you... I also sleep late and wake up late.. The earlier shift didn't suit my plans of waking up late, so I am a bit happy to know the schedule change... Have fun!!!

Have fun too my friend. I can feel that you are happy with your new schedule. Just take care when you go home, especially in those late hours. I always tell me sister to take a nap at her office if the time is too odd to go home. We can never say these days.

Yeah, a little short nap during the office timings when the work load is less or there is no work load, is very good and helps one work efficiently.. Yeah, I am glad with the new timings... I am waiting for my cab to come, while writing this... :) Have fun!!! Happy Lotting!!!

The job I am in now I used to work all crazy shifts. One week it would be 7-3:30pm and another week it would be 8:30-5pm and then some days I would work 1:30-10pm. It was hard coping working all these crazy hours because it messed up my sleeping pattern and also I couldn't keep up with daily life and chores at home. But recently another position came open with set hours and now I currently work 7-3:30pm mon-fri and work one saturday a month. I like this better and now my sleeping pattern is back on track and things our getting done at home and I have a social life again!

I can work in flexible hours. Both shifts have advantages and disadvantages. I guess that those with kids are the one that will be much affected with changes in schedules. It really depends on the lifestyle of a person. Since I am single and I live by myself, changes in work schedules do not affect me that much. It's only the heavy traffic that I hate, and it's one thing that I consider in choosing my shift.

Its going around right now my friend works in the call center during the day and they just changed her hours to grave yard shift but she has two small children....The bad part about her whole scenario is that the company that she works for is actually doing this on purpose....They are trying to force her to quit by giving her crappy hours...This is happing a lot here in California they are even forcing people to retire or suffer the loss......

Hiii Ndubose... I don't know why the company is acting that way with your friend... I mean, here the company always takes care of its employees. Forget forcing one to quit, they always make sure that the employees wouldn't be able to quit easily... They want us and they care for us... Wonder why they are doing this to your friend... And moreover, if your friend knows it, then why does she stick to that company... Better quit with honor and find another job... I am sure Call center employees always have many opportunities for them...

I have worked all shifts in the hospital - sometimes more than one shift change a week - not easy to adjust. I was lucky I did not have children - those parents had a real rough time - the whole family was put into the picture. Hope all goes well for you.

Hiiii tenlittledogs... Thanks for sharing... I understand how it is with the hospitals... Those who have kids find it really hard to work in different and constantly changing shifts.. I have known a family like that here. the lady works in a hospital and is busy for most of the time... The kids don't get a lot of attention of their mom and hence they're a little weird... Feel Sorry for them...
