We just went to the beach yesterday ...we ride a boat ...or pedal boat something like that it was 8:30 am then.....then we find a place where in it is not crowded by swimmers and its so far to our base or cottage...... after a few hours we went hungry and we asked for our 2 friends to go get our lunch....it takes them an hour and then when I got home I got a sunburn which is common the one thing i was alarmed is that the burned part is swollen, feel itchy and im having a hard time to move, is it bad? is there an ointment i can apply so that it will lessen the swelling or itches? Any advise mylotters =(

I would suggest you see a dermatologist to ensure you will be using or applying the right cream or medicine. It is better to have it consulted,or else, having self medication would lead into more bigger problem,or,would harm your skin. Have a good day always

hmmmm... sounds very sore... have you tried calamine lotion that is what people use on chicken pox, to ease the itching and discomfort, it may help you, other than that all i can suggest would be like an antiseptic ointment or cream, hope you feel better soon :)

Hi acey76, it's nice for us to apply sunblock before having activities under the scorching sunshine at the beach. The good quality one usually works well. Therefor it's worth to pay more for that. For your case it's wise to get help from the pharmacist and purchase the medicine from the shop at the same time. Of course we would spend more if visiting a doctor. Anyway it's better and safe as well than to simply apply whatever without any knowledge. Unless the treatment or traditional remedy is already to be confirmed safe and effective. Take care and happy posting

Are you sure it's a sunburn? I've gotten a few but no swelling. Just red dry blistering skin. I like to use Aloe. Not lotion with aloe (they contain too little aloe) but a cooling aloe gel. It feels great when you first put it on the burn. It soothes the skin, keeps it moist and will help it heal. Also I'd take Ibprofen for the pain and inflammation. That's what I do anyway. And next time bring that sunscreen!

Hi acey! Did you use sunblock before basking into the sun? Anyway, you can apply petroelum jelly for the mean time, it will help. If it continues and the condition did not change, consult a dermatologist.
