My absolute favourite at the moment is David Baldacci. I love the way he writes and that he has a wide repertoir, he doesn't stick to the same themes but tries different genres. I think he develops his characters really well and I find it easy to engage with them, it's really difficult for me to put down a Baldacci book once I start it no matter how thick it is :) My favourite kind of books are crime mysteries with a bit of romance thrown in but not taking over the story and my favourite Baldacci books so far are: The Simple Truth & First Family.

Hi Debs. I am not a big reader of Novels. I tend to read real life stories such as biographies for than fiction. There are 3 Authors that stand out to me though as I have read multiple books of theirs. 1. J.K Rowling. I love the Harry Potter series and have read all of them and seen all of the films that have been released so far. 2. J.R.R. Tolkein. I love The Hobbit and The Lord Of The Rings series. I have owned these books for years and read them quite a few times over the years. I have the films on DVD as well and also have watched them many times. 3. Robert G. Barrett. You probably have not heard of this one as he is an Australian author who has a bit of a cult following here. He has been writing novels about a lovable nightclub bouncer called Les Norton for the last 20 years or so. He brings out a new book each year around November and I have read them all. Les gets up to all sorts of mischief in these books. They are quite funny. He has written a few others in between involving other characters as well. They are all pretty good and are easy light reading.

I too saw all of the Harry Potter films first but my daughter kept nagging me read the books and my wife and mum both said that they were really good so I eventually read the first one and then kept going. The 6th and 7th books were the only ones that I read before seeing the films. My wife has tried to read The Hobbit and LOTR but she cannot get into them either. She says that there are too many boring details, but the details are what I love. He makes the world seem so real as if it were a non-fiction book. Yeah, Les is a lovable rogue who always manages to find trouble wherever he goes but always tries to do the right thing. A bit of a ladies man too, he is!

Hi Bill, Thanks for joining in :) I know many people who love the Harry Potter books yet I've never gone there yet myself - apart from reading the odd chapter to my niece when she's been on hols with us - I think it's because I saw the films first... I loved the Hobbit when I read it as a kid but could never get into the Lord of the Rings for some reason, though again I saw and thoroughly enjoyed the films :) The bouncer books sound interesting, sounds like a kind of Dennis Waterman character, he's an actor over here that specialised in playing lovable rogues who usually somehow end up doing the right thing.

I have a lot of favorite authors, so this is a tough question. I'm going to answer by giving one of my first favorite authors who I still really enjoy. She was the first author where I felt like I "collected" her books. Her name is Jane Green. She is a pretty well known chick lit author!

I know what you mean about collecting someones' books, I have a couple of authors I do that with nowadays, just can't walk by a new book of theirs without picking it up expecting to spend a few very pleasant hours losing myself in it :)

This is a bit difficult for me as all the books I have been reading for the last few years have been biographies and memoires. But there is one biographer which I really enjoy reading and that is Michael Munn. He comes across as someone who not only gets close to the people he writes about but does his research, taking time to get the facts right and never tries to be sensationalist with what he includes, rather preferring to paint a real picture of those people who let him into their lives.

My favorite author is James Paterson and he is a real page turner with an international bestseller title, I just love all his books from Alex cross series to Women's murder club. I have a book of David Baldacci "Total Control" and it is a wonderful book.

I like James Pattersons Alex Cross novels and I enjoyed the film versions with Morgan Freeman too. I haven't read his Womens Murder Club series though, shall have to keep an eye out for those, thanks. I'm glad you enjoy Baldacci too - I think he's tremendous. I read his books more than once and it's been a while since I read Total Control so there's another for me to revisit :)

My favorite book is "The Winning Attitude" written by John Maxwell. I love reading it again and again, because sometimes, I need to be reminded that like an airplane, I am losing my attitude (the nose of an airplane is also called Attitude), I am losing my attitude that's why I'm losing altitude! I love that book... The Winning Attitude by John Maxwell.. Great book!

I have not read any recent novels in a long time so my favorite fiction writers may not be familiar to you. I like James Clavell, Erich Segal, Alex Haley and classic writers like Jack London. Lately, I just like to read trade books or business books. One recent book I read, The New New Thing, was written by Michael Lewis. It was rather revealing story of maverick Jim Clark. He was the billionaire who started the Netscape, the internet bubble and at least one billion-dollar company. For business books, I like Peter Drucker, Francis Fukuyama, Michael Porter, Peter Schwartz, and so on. For historical books, I like the stories of John Keegan about wars.

I read Call of the Wild by Jack London and have read a few Alex Hailey novels years ago, he was a master of blockbusters wasn't he, the last one I read of his I believe was about corrupt bankers - sorry I can't remember the name but it was pretty violent and although I enjoyed his stories it put me off a bit (I was fairly young lol).. I like the sound of The New New Thing, I shall have to look out for that one, I have been reading some books about Roman history lately, Ben Kanes' the Lost Legion I found quite gripping and I believe he has a sequel out soon which I am keen to read next.
