When you think back to your childhood, what do you remember as being the earliest thing that happened when you were a child? Was it when you first went to school, your sister or brother being born? Or some other special thing that happened to you as a child that you can recall? Share those memories with us.

hi artistry, i dont know what age i was that time.. will guess. 3 probably? my father was showing us magic. he was holding on to a tennis ball, and my siblings and i were all eyes to him. he said he will throw the ball but said it will always come back to him. (easy magic eh?) but i remember listening and watching intensely. he made the ball bounce and catched. he did several times and all the time he was able to catch. i even checked to make sure whether he was cheating. (maybe there was some thread there attached to him and the ball thats why it goes back to him.) then he gave me the ball so that its my turn to make magic. so i did. but everytime, the ball goes away when i throw. too bad. i didnt know his skills then have a nice day. ann

...Hi tigeraunt, Now that's interesting. He would have had to angle the bounced ball just right for it to come back to him and that is very hard. I wonder how he did it? You were very observant at such a young age and that was a very early memory, but it made a big impression on you. I'll be wondering about that trick for the day probably "o). Thanks, take it easy.

...Hi ellie, It is quite a difficult one as you say, I don't know if we even know we are in the world before a certain period of time. "o) So then to recall anything would be quite something. I do remember a few things, not many when I was very young. Once I was on the porch with my grandfather and grandmother and some other people I think and I had a hand held mirror that I had gotten from somewhere. I was looking at my face in the mirror and I begin to reach behind the mirror to see if I could touch my face I guess. I still remember the scene. Three is very young to recall things. Thanks so much for your response. Take care.

...Hi there yugasini, Hope you are doing well. You remember specifically about the teacher and the masque. I think it is quite amazing that we can recite things from the time when we were sdo young because it was so long ago. Our memory banks just decide what will stay and what we will not remember at all, very interesting it all is. Thanks so much for stopping by, take care.

I remember being in some kind of kindergarten eating rice and another time eating oranges with the peel. I also remember when my youngest brother (6 years younger) was born. I also remember my cousin molesting me. But I don't know the time order of these different things.

....Hi there 1hopefulman, Hope you are doing very well. That is a long way back, you were a tiny tot at that time. I can remember when my youngest sister was born because my aunt came to stay with us while my mother was in the hospital, and I did something which upset her to the point where she found a belt to give me a beating. At that time, my mom and dad had never beat me. Needless to say I was sick of her and I crawled under the bed so that she could not reach me to beat me, smart I was "o). Can't remember what I did. I hope you kicked your cousin somewhere painful. Thanks for your response, take care.

I do remember some bits and pieces of memories from my childhood. The oldest memory that I have is maybe when I was a year or so old. There were these couple of people who were carrying a refrigerator in our house. I have asked father about it later on and he said that he did buy one and that two people had actually carried it into our house. So I was right. That is the oldest memory I have of my life.

Yeah... it is strange that I remember something so unimportant... It is funny how our memory works isn't it? We forget some important things but remember some very trivial incidents. Have a nice day.

....Hi sagnik, Good grief Charlie Brown, you remember a long way back. Amazing! The refrigerator made an impact on you and stayed in your memory bank. That was very young for you to remember so far back. I remember being in a crib with a window over it, but that was all I remember about that period of time. Hope you are doing well. Thanks for your response, take good care.

My earliest memory has to be, when I was three years old I was sick and I woke up in the hospital, (I went into a diabetic coma) I remember the crib that I was in and I told my uncle that was visiting me that I wasn't a baby and didn't want to be in the crib.

....Hi offkey, You evidently wanted to grow up fast. That's cute. That is very young to remember, but it was tramatic for you. Good that it turned out okay for you and your family. Welcome to the ranch by the way, it is a great place to meet new friends. Enjoy. It interesting as I have mentioned before that we have selective memories from our very young days. Right now I can walk into my kitchen and forget what I came for. ":o) Thanks very much for responding, take good care.

I am useless I have to admit... I do not think that I was blessed with a fantastic memory... I have small memories of things that happened, but probably as far back as I was at the age of 8... I am 30 now! Friends remember so much more than me, and they always seem to delight in reminding me about situations, or things that happened lol

...Hi rosie, You are a baby now "o). It's interesting how some things that happened when we were children seem to stick with us but most of them don't. I asked my mom about something that I recalled and she said that it was as I said. I wasn't sure but it seemed as if my crib was in a corner in a room and there was a window directly over it and the curtain would blow in and over my crib when the window was open. I had to be very young at that time, but that was all I remember about that time frame. Cute picture. Thanks so much for your reply, take it easy.

I think my first memory was lying in my parent's Big Bed during the day. I think that was just after I was in the crib and around the time I got a cot at the foot of their bed. I was two or three. I remember sitting in a black enamel canner, when I could fit in one. I also remember my first vaccinations for polio and how my arm was numb the next day. I also remember our cats from around that time, and our big dog, but that was a little later. I remember my fourth birthday party, and various other things.
