So now I am back to eating baby food from little jars

I kid you not. Being an emotional eater has its drawbacks as I eat when stressed. With political problems on Island I had 3 breakfasts yesterday and two lunches. For dinner? Don't even ask.It was one continuous meal and snacks that started with cashew nuts and a rum and pepsi and continued well into the early hours until the son came home safely. I I suppose that I could say that dinner was just one meal. In an effort to cut down today (but the sweet tooth needed feeding, I stopped at the shelves in the supermarket that were packed with those little jars of baby foods. Haven't looked a them for years One little jar of prunes was only 43 calories and so I out that in my shopping cart. and then, what is this? First foods for babies over six months old! So I picked up a few jars of bananas, and mixed fruits. Then I saw the jars for toddlers but I thought that I was being too ambitious so I stopped at jars for those babies that are 6 months or older. They taste good too. The only problem is that one jar is not sufficient so I finished the four jars that I bought in one swoop. So, did anyone eat baby food today?

CYNTHI!!! U ARE being a bad girl, lol. I have never eaten baby food in my life. Could hardly stand to give it to the boys when thet were babies except for the fruit of course. I know u were worried about the terrible situation there & Jo being out in the middle of it. I hope things get better soon.

Everything is good at the moment so please don't worry. My GD called me this morning as she could not get through to him and when I went into his room he was on a conference call as well as talking into his cell but immediately when I said that his daughter was on the phone he just apologised to everyone and told them to give him a few minutes and took the phone from me to speak to her. This gave me great re assurance as I knew that his family will always come first. I felt good today as I slept well.Blessings

Nope haven't eaten baby food in years! Though I think Gerber makes this blueberry cobbler (I think?) hubby loves... though I forgot about it until you brought this up. There was one I liked as well similar but haven't thought about it for years. Have fun w/ your baby food!-

The fruit baby foods actually taste pretty good. I have not tasted it since my daughter was a baby though. I did not eat any baby food today, but I could see how the fruit desert ones that are pretty sweet could curb a sugar craving.

It would have been ok if I had just eaten one instead of the four as they are low in calories. 43 calories per jar which is a good snack. I was just a little whacko yesterday. Am ok now. I hope that you children are well. Many blessings

Remember baby food is used to help babies grow and thin is not in for them.If you eat more than the recommended serving size you might as well eat all day. Find another way to curb your emotional eating habits.Nothing is a sure thing that works for all.Choose something that works for you. As for eating baby food they may be safer in the long run because of the less sugar and less preservatives added. My grandmother ate baby food when I was a young girl, she said they didn"t make them when she was young. She ate the deserts but only one jar at a time.

The sugar factor is low and no fat and the fruit ones tasted all right. Only 43 calories but I ate the four jars in one swoop. I know that i have to deal with this in another way.Blessings

No, I have not eat baby food in some time now. It's actually been years. I did use to like some of them. The fruits and desserts. Like you I found them to be really good. If you must eat why not try eating raw veggies like carrots, broccoli, etc. This is what I do when I find myself in a slump and just must have to eat something but I can not handle the calories. Hummm, speaking of food....I'm hungry now. I think I will make some biscuits and bacon for breakfast. lol

I had a substitute teacher in high school that ate baby food for lunch to stay thin. And boy was she thin! She said the only problem was that the baby food was usually more expensive to buy at the grocery store than the regular food she would normally buy for herself. Is that true for you?

Probably she had no control of portions and so took one to school to eat or something. Yes, it is expensive but if I had only bought one jar instead of four...... I am o.k.today just went a bit crazy for a few hours

when I am stressed it is like I cannot control my hunger. It has taken me 6 months to lose 21 pounds. Nothing to boast about but I still want to lose more weight. I feel a bit better today and I won't be buying anymore! At least - not today

cynthiann, Out of concern, I really hope that you will recover from whatever you are undergoing. Also, are you enjoying those baby meals? You deserve a decent meal as I just do not think they have sufficient essential nutrients for your body. So for your own sake please have a better meal!

We are having political problems and this is what has stressed me out. It is a quarrel between parties and does not affect tourism in any way bot it is nasty and one of my son's is involved in politics so I feel it and worry about him.

Hi Cynthiann, lol, the last time I ate baby food was about five years when weaning my son, some taste yummy though I agree! It is not something I would put into my basket these days though. I can relate to eating when stressed though. I tend to comfort eat too, not great for the waistline but feels good at the time eh! Hugles. Ellie :D

Yes it does feel good for a small while. Lost 21 lbs so do not want to put on the weight again. I had put the jars in office fridge and they did taste good and low in calories but I should not have eaten them all

cynthiann I hear you but never went to baby food but I am a sweet lover and sadly I am also a diabetic, and when I get stressed or upset as I was today over some odd incidents on my access bus trip to the lab and back, I also eat. So as I missed breakfast as I had to fast for the darned cholesterol test in with all the other tests, when my tablemate wanted to know if I wanted her enchilada oh my I jumped at the offer. She cannot eat meat as she has gout. So I had two enchiladas plus the other food on my plate;.came up to my room, tried to mylot and was so sleepy, so decided to go down to the residents meeting . that woke me up some, specially as the lady next to me had her dog with her, a small pretty dog. usually dogs and I get along famously. so when I tried to pet his cute little head he snapped at me and growled. hello, dont you let that dog bite me, lady.so they served snacks, cakes , cookies all the stuff I am not supposed to eat but I did. smarting over being snapped and snarled at. Ihave never in my life before had a dog of any kind ever do that to me.So I ate just one piece patting myself on the back for the will power, then someone passed the plate, I took two pieces, and ended up eating five pieces of chocolate and white cake too.no baby food but lots of delicious sweet cake, and zoom went the blood sugar.

I know exactly how you feel. We are aware that we are emotional eaters but somehow just cave in. I have lost 21 pounds and do not want to put on weight. why I bought those baby jars of fruit I do not know. But it would have been ok if I had eaten just one of them but I ate the four that I had bought. If you find the solution then please let me know I am glad that you did not get bitten though.

Nope, never tried that.. can't imagine that I'd want to either. Sorry that you've been so stressed out. Wish I knew how to help that, but I still struggle with it sometimes myself. Best advice I can give is 1. if you must eat all day, choose healthier things to eat, and 2. try exercise first, it might relieve some of the stress and make you not so interested in eating. And if you're craving sweets try those lower calorie sweets that I've mentioned before, like sugar free pudding or something similar.

I checked for the puddings you recommended but they are so expensive as they are imported from the US. I feel better today so I hope that this little madness will pass. If I have put on a pound then I may just slit my throat I was too scared to weigh in today. am going to drink loads of water and flush out the goop today

Don't talk like that !! I know how hard it is when you're stressed... I get that way too a lot. Sometimes it may help to remind yourself how good it feels to be losing weight, and how much you can do now that you couldn't a few months ago. Remind yourself that being healthier feels better than any food can taste.

I haven't eaten any baby food today, but I have in the past. My daughter is 27 years old and when she gets a taste for it she buys the baby food desserts and eats them. She has been eating them for years. I will probably buy some more in the future.

Actually they are low in calories and so a good way to keep caloric count low as well as satisfying a craving for sweetness. And they tasted good - it was just that I should not have eaten all of the jars at one time! But I was so stressed. Ate better yesterday and hope to do even better today. Am scared to get on the scale though. It will be awful for me if I have gained weight! I am thinking of getting a few jars and keeping them in my fridge at work for when the craving begins. Am drinking lots of water today as well in an effort to flush out all the grunge I've been consuming

You have a great sense of humour cynthiann! I’m an emotional eater too but I am not drawn to baby food I must say. I am actually talking to a therapist about my need to overeat when I feel sad or stressed, amongst other problems, (LOL)! I drink tea or coffee, chew gum and deal with whatever I am feeling whenever I have the need to medicate myself with food. It’s really hard though isn’t it? You know when you’re doing that it’s not the answer but you go right ahead and do it anyway and eat another lunch or chocolate...

I know exactly how you feel. I too recognise it but am not empowered to do anything,. Yet I have lost just 21 pounds but it took me nearly 6 months which is pretty pathetic so do not want to put back on the weight. And somehow this fear made me eat more. Totally irrational but then emotions are not rational are they?

It has been a while since I've eaten baby food, but I have to say that I am not opposed to it when it is a pureed version of something that I would eat in the solid form. When I was in high school I had surgery on my jaw to help treat my TMJ and after the surgery I was on a liquid diet for a month. I learned then that baby food was one of the greatest things that there are when there is a very limited amount of things that you are allowed to eat.

Hi, after reading your story, i' m very interested in this, however, though 22 years old, i seldom eat any baby food, but i can image it must be nutritional and tastes good. if any chance, i 'd like to try. thanks
