I am a Christian because I am a follower of Christ and I received Him. Meaning He is just not my Savior, but He is my Lord. Knowing that He is Lord in my life, is not just thinking about it, but believing that He owns my life and everything here on earth, which means I am His servant and I obey Him. People don't become Christian because of tradition, one may believe so but God will not consider him a Christian, unless the person really believes in Christ.

For me Christianity is not a religion. It's a way of life. I don't believe in good works as well. I believe in what's in the heart and the faith one has.

technically i could be called a christian because i have been baptised and done my holy communion, but that wasn't my choice to do that. So i don't think i should be classed as a christian, also i think that if you say you are a christian you should practise what christians believe and i dont so........

Greetings, What a wonderful discussion, what makes a Christian, Christian? I don't know right off hand whether I really asked myself, "what makes me a Christian." Because I know who I am in Christ Jesus, which is a child of the king. So when Christians realize who they are in Christ Jesus they don't have to wonder they know. I have heard many answers to these questions as well, but there shouldn't really be any guesses about our identity in being associated with the King of kings and the Lord of lords. I heard a statement one time that says,"Is not what you know is who you know." Being a Christian is living a Christ lifestyle, its not a religion it is having a relationship with Jesus Christ and the Father that sets a Christian a part from others. Many people do say they believe in Jesus Christ but does their life show it by the fruits they bear according to God's Word? A true Christian lives a lifestyle according to God's Word, not according to society or the way we think is a Christian which is pleasing to ourselves and not God. A Christian lifestyle is an open book to the world who are in darkness. So when we proclaim we are Christians our lifestyle should be according to God's Word to the world. I know I keep mentioning the Word of God, but it is His Word that shows us how to be a true Christian. This is how I came to know Jesus Christ and the Father through His Word. I believe that any other way would compromise the true way in living a Christian life. Thank you and have a blessed day.

Most of them are Christians because they are born into Christianity. Then are many who call themselves Christians because Missionaries converted them. Among them, some adopted Christianity because they promised them job, good life, and even milk powder. Some became Christians because the faith they earlier followed was in doubt. Some become Christians because Jesus' teachings appeal to them. I am a Christian because I am born into it. May be if I were born into some other religion I would have followed that religion. Still I feel you become Christian only if God's grace is upon you. Many Christians turn to other religion may be because they are no longer under God's grace.
