Does God support marriages between siblings?

In the Old Testament, when God gave Moses the law for the children of Israel, He commanded that “if any man shall take his sister, his father’s daughter or his mother’s daughter, and see her nakedness and she see his nakedness; it is a wicked thing; and they shall be cut off in the sight of their people…”. Leviticus 20:17 Will God still consider it a sin today, if siblings take themselves in marriage, after all Sarah (Abraham’s wife) was his half-sister and also Cain may have had to marry one of his sisters, to produce children, though the Bible does not expressly say so. Share your thoughts, and please support them with scriptures.

ooo...i don't know much, and i certainly don't speak for Him. but i do have a feeling that even if God does (maybe there is a reference somewhere, i don't know), the general public in our world today would actually frown upon incestuous marriages..

I think it's more than just frowned upon... It's illegal! And I'm pretty sure it's disgusting in God's sight too...

I think this is not a good thing. I can't accept it if I were to marry my siblings. I think it is disgusting. Anyway, genetically, it is also not good as their children might have disease or distorted figure.

Absolutely. I mean, in today's society, it is not legal to marry one's siblings. But I've read that in Sweden, it's legal to marry your half-sibling... I wonder if that's true...?

You know, dog also like that. After they were born and a while when they grew up, they will separate from their siblings. THey will find their partner, who knows it will be his sister or brother! I hope you know what I mean.

Yes I know what you mean. But it can happen to humans as well. I've read of siblings that were separated when they were born, and they met up years later, got married and had kids... before they realized that they were brother and sister!

i think youre taking this a little bit too literally. the bible is not taken literally, its full of figures of speech. try toread between the lines or study the bible more to get the full meaning.

It IS gross! But there're sick people out there that will make love to their siblings! I mean, think about all those child molesters out there that molest their own children. I think it's wrong in God's eyes, and it's wrong in the law.

i my opinion... neither god nor anyone will support such marriages....how can one marry with sibling....here we value relationship a lot...and siblings share different emotions like that of brother and sister....they cannot be emotionally attached as life partners...so...no to this

I agree with you, it's not good for one to marry one's sibling. emotions have nothing to do with it though. It's just not morally or genetically right.

I doubt that Cain had married one of his sisters. God had created other creature before he created Adam. Author of 'Book of Genesis' wrote, "God had created man in His own image." Therefore, Adam was not a prototype but a perfect model that God had created after His own image. Among other creatures, there were Apes. However, they walked upright but they often stooped down and walked on all fours. They did not have flat face. They did not have a power of articulate speech. They did not have a superior mental development as Adam had. There might have been other creatures, which were in semblance of men. In the book of Genesis it is also written, "There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bore children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown. (Gen. 6:4)" It is quite possible Cain took one of their daughters and produced a generation. It is also possible that men of yore out of ignorance cohabited with their own siblings. Therefore, Moses had to enact a law, which precluded people from marrying their own siblings. Besides, there are examples when men committed incest, as Judah cohabited with his own daughter in law Tamar and produced Perez and Zarah. Earlier, Abraham's brother Lot after fleeing from Sodom and Gomorrah cohabited with both his daughters and produced Moabites and Ammonites. This sort of indiscriminate intermingling produced Giants, read at De 2:11, "Which also were accounted giants, as the Anakims; but the Moabites call them Emims." and at De 2:20, "(That also was accounted a land of giants: giants dwelt therein in old time; and the Ammonites call them Zamzummims." This shows that incest had caused the human race to go back to the point of origin. The process by which the races develop into excellent beings we know as culture. In plant culture, we do not graft scion on scion, and stock on stock. We graft always scion on stock and we never graft stock on scion. This is important for development of a quality. If we employ the same method for culture of human race then only we will be able to reproduce divine beings. The religion precludes marriages between siblings to prevent recurrence of defective genes. Therefore, I say whatever was relevant in times of Moses is relevant even today.

Thanks for the comment Achilles... The bottom line is what I was looking for and I agree with it... what was relevant in times of Moses is relevant even today.
