I heard from a couple friends of mine, "Macbooks are way better". They gave me alot of reasons, one of them being that you don't need an antivirus software on it. Are macbooks really that resistant to viruses? Just the fact that i found a couple of trojans on my Dell laptop actually got me thinking. Well, I would like your feedback on this. Convince or dissuade me.

one reason mac doesnt need antivirus is because hackers know there are more pcs than there are macs. Simple logic if you want to infect something your going to go for what there is more of. I have a few friends who use to have a mac and just hate it. a few say that is not so functional as they had been told. I personally think macs are worth a one way trip off apple headquarters because they were only made so apple could make some money with computers...and they are a pain for gamers some time because when games want to release updates they have to figure out a mac way before they can release.

True you dont need antivirus for now. But with Macs becoming more popular it isnt long before hackers get to making viruses for them. Now that apple is somehow dominating about now, i think it is sooner than expected that we will see some. Now on the matter of if you're gonna shift to a Mac, it really depends on your lifestyle and the cash you can burn. Macs are more like stylebooks than notebooks. What would you be using your laptop for anyway? The hardcore games arent available on Macs yet because DirectX is still a Microsoft thing but I think STEAM is working on stuff to make it possible for a Mac. And there is a regard of shifting from Windows to OSX.

It is not exactly like you don´t need an antivirus for a mac, what happens here is that there are practically no existing virus that ca infect a mac, so you don´t have to worry about this things. Although Mac laptops are expensive, they have more memory in the hard disk; the battery is better, you can work for several hour and don´t run out of energy; it is compatible with most of the programms of Windows; and more important, the Mac Operative System is for a lot better than Windows. I have a Mac laptop and I still think it was a great investment.

Yeah. As previously mentioned, there simply aren't a lot of viruses written for Mac computers. Overall though, from the Macs I have personally used and my friends who have them, I would say they are certainly an overall better quality computer. I'm planning on upgrading to one whenever I get the money.
