Roach problem

Here in the apartment I live in we have a roach problem. The first year we lived here we saw maybe 3 roaches, so it wasn't a big deal. The second year it was like they came out of hiding and there are lots of little ones and medium ones that are in the cupboards and even in the bathrooms. Its terrible. Now, we are not dirty people. Its not like after one year we just decided to stop cleaning. I pick up our dog's food bowl at night so they can't get in it. We try not to leave any water in the sink though sometimes we have to when soaking dishes. We clean the stove and counters everyday. Yet they are still there. I think the company that the apartments hire don't change their poison mixture. I heard that every "cycle" or whatever for cockroaches that they breed new roaches who are immune to the poison and that poison companies have to keep changing the chemicals they use to make it different for the new roaches. This is probably true because I've used those sprays from the store and they worked for awhile, but now it doesn't work at all. Do you think if I contact the apartment manager they can do something about it or will I have to pay my own exterminator to do it for just our place? The person who sprays the poison is the same person who does the landscaping around here, so I don't think it is a professional company like they used to hire, which is probably them being cheap. Anyway, I'm getting tired of battling bugs and constantly making sure things are clean, it is tiring, and it hasn't even helped.

Hi, BambooPanda13. If you are renting and paying rent then the landlord is supposed to offer exterminator services. This is supposed to be handled by management. I live in an apartment and luckily we don't have any roaches. Due to the apartment being exterminated. I know how it is to have to deal with roaches. My mom's side of the family had roaches so bad, we would hit the wooden chairs on the floor and the roaches will come pouring out from underneath the chair. And last summer, I had to live with my in-laws temporarily, and they had roaches so bad in the trailer. Roaches was everywhere. They were so bad at night when we would come in the kitchen. There were so many baby roaches that was in the microwave until it was not funny. I was so disgusted! I was glad to have moved from out of here. It was just too many roaches for me to handle. My fil was supposed to come and spray but he never did. He was saying that he had to get the money to get it sprayed... I guess it was too expensive for him to pay.. I hope that your landlord takes care of this problem, because if you are paying rent, you have all of the right to have your apartment exterminated!

I would definitely contact your apartment manager to have them spray. However, another thing you can do is get Boric Acid. Either the tablets or the powder. I've read that the powder works the best, but after having my apartment spray and using the tablets my first week I had no problem. You want to put them in wall corners, near the baseboards, behind the toilet...just in general places that roaches might possibly get in through. We saw a few roaches our first two weeks of living here and we did the spray with the Boric Acid tablets and 9 months later I think I have only seen one roach in our apartment and it was just recently. I hope this helps because I know how awful it is to even see one roach in your apartment.
