Are self addresed envelopes in bills wasteful? What do you do with them?

There are bills here that come with self addressed envelopes. As bills could be paid online or through the many automated machines around self addressed envelopes that come along with these bills are wasteful. I used to recycle some but the rest are just going to the bins. What do you do with them?

If you pay most of your bills online, then yes it is wasteful, however, you can call the company and let them know that you do pay online. In some cases they will just switch to sending you a bill through your e-mail. This saves even more paper and wow, it can be a lot nicer on everyone in the long run. However, if you are like a lot of us who still use paper, it is nice to have that envelope, that means the dime is coming from that company and not always you. I say use them if need be. Saves you having to buy another envelope to send your payment in.

Whenever I get junk mail I check for those return envelopes. I take them out and re-use them. Just cover any of their printing with white-out and write over it. Works for me and you aren't wasting. At least re-use something! I actually make my own handmade paper so I recycle the junk mail into that lol.

Yes and no. I still pay my bills with those envelopes. I prefer to have my paper trail in my hands than pulling up charts someplace. If I don't use them, I use them for other things like coupons for the grocery store or things like that.

Hi, tomitomi. Are you referring to the envelopes that are already postage paid??? I try to take advantage of these envelopes because sometimes I don't have a stamp. And for the envelopes that I have to write upon, I will just use these for other things. Like sending a letter to someone or a company. I guess these types of envelopes are good to have if someone does not have Internet access at home, or they just prefer to send their bills through the mail. Some people don't trust paying bills online. It is only wasteful if you never use it.

Yes cream! It is only wasteful if it's not reused. You sure have a great way of reusing them. Thanks for sharing! :)

In our family we keep it for reference in the future in case of errors.
