In alot of Afrian countries it is that way! Just last week two gay Malawian men were charged for being gay and will spend 14 years in prison doing hard labor! That isn't right! Malawi and other countries can't except there are gay and lesbians! I wish these countries, like Malawi, would open their minds and learn to except them! You are born gay and you can't stop people from being gay! Everyone should have equal rights and not tortured for being who they are!

Ive heard that this happens in some countries and I agree that it is horribly wrong. Stories like this make me appreciate the freedoms that we do have here in America. We still have a lot of discrimination but at least people are not being tortured and thrown into jail for these types of things.

I know the gay couple has been released from prison in Malawi because the president was pressured to do so. I hope this couple finds asylum outside of Malawi because I fear for their lives! You are right! We has alot of discrimination here but at we don't throw them in jail for being gay!

The thing is discrimination in what ever form or shape exists, this unfortunately is how it shows itself in extreme cases. When a country uses it's legal structure that is supposed to protect it's citizens to oppress. The thing is this is the same as discrimination suffered due to race, sexuality or religion this one discriminates against who you love. This is no different to the difficulties suffered by any minority in a closed minded society, though individual people may be good and help, it was not too long ago that homosexuality was illegal in many western nations, and even now many suffer not only discrimination but violence for being who they are.

I could not agree more! So many are being discriminated becuase they are gay! It just shocks me and in most countires that don't except homsexuality you are jailed! I feel that the gay issue is a race issue. Not a gender issue! It reminds of me when the blacks rioted in the 1960's for egual rights! They suffered for years and still do at times for equal rights and be excepted! Now the gay and lesbian community are going through some of the same things! It is ashame and I hope it chages soon for the better!

People believe that it is a choice, and a wrong choice at that. That is why there are laws like this. I don't believe it's a choice, and hopefully there will be scientific proof someday that will educate people so that there will no longer be laws like this.

I wish that happens soon myself! I am so sick of people thinking it is a choice when it is not! I work with a woman who beleives it is a choice and so do all of my family! When I heard that I was shocked and when I heard this it was not the right place to discuss it! This is one thing that makes not proud of my family!
