I would like to know if you are an active user of helium.com and if you are, have you made any money from it? Please be honest. I just signed up and am trying to figure it out. Thanks in advance.

Hello, Hulaboy. I've been writing for Helium for almost 3 years now, but it's only in the last few months I've made good money on there. The secret is to read the guidelines and work out how to make the most of your opportunities on the site. Concentrate on quality writing, as your articles are rated by other Helium writers. Only by building up a respectable writing score can you maximise your earning potential. Concentrate on quality to start with, and the earnings will come. I'm now earning well over $200 a month.

Hello, UmiNoor. My earnings are mostly from upfront payments - I get roughly $30 a month from revenue sharing at the moment. I have about 520 articles on Helium, and I try to add roughly 3 a day. Last month, we were in England, and I only managed 63 articles, but this month, now we're back home in Spain, I should manage 100. I'd say try to write something every day, because if you don't write for a few days, it's difficult to get back into a routine. I write two articles every morning, while it's quiet, and I usually do another one or two in the evening. If you're not feeling like writing, look for a title you'll enjoy writing to, rather than just going for empties and under 5's. I think you'll find that as your article count, stars and earnings go up, that will be enough incentive to get you writing more. It worked for me, anyway!

Thank you Sandra for the tip, Wow 100 articles in a month. That is a real feat for me. Do you write every day? What about the weekends? Do you write during the weekends too? Today I managed to write two articles and submitted them to Helium. And I wrote them very early in the morning when everyone was still asleep. I think I need it to be really quiet and calm for me to be able to write. If it's chaotic, I just cannot concentrate. You're right about increasing the number of articles we have at Helium. I aim to get at least four writing stars before the end of the year and that means having 300 articles on Helium. Wish me luck.

That is really great Sandra to be earning more than $200 a month! Is it from upfront payment mostly or from revenue sharing? How many articles do you have now at Helium? Right now I have only 122 articles and I'm feeling real lazy each day to produce more articles. Gotta get back my muse and get inspired to write more. I'm aiming to get at least $100 in a month which means I have to write at least 2 or 3 articles a day. It may not sound like many but my lazybones are kicking in and I'm not producing as much as I should. Any ideas on how to be more productive?

Hello hulaboy, When I first joined Helium, I was so overwhelmed by the rules and TOS and all the new terms which I've never heard of before like writing stars, rating stars, competitive titles, leapfrog etc. It took me about a week to learn about the site before I finally submitted my first article. This is the first writing site which pays me upfront and I'm so glad for that because not many writing sites would pay upfront to international writers. Anyway, I highly recommend Helium because of the fact there's upfront payment and revenue sharing and you can really plan how much you want to earn. Like for example, if you have three writing stars like I do and you want to earn let's say $100 in a month, all you need to do is write 2 to 3 articles a day and you'll reach your target. I'm trying to do that but alas for the month of May I just manage to earn just a little over $80. If you really want to know more about Helium, you can read an article I wrote about how I got my first writing star at Helium with seven articles. This article was published at Bukisa. Uminoor $80 is very good! I only came close to that once last summer because I had some time off from teaching. The only other time I did really well was the month I sold to marketplace articles. Here's a tip: for every competitive article write three to empty titles. If you can not find an empty title write a book review or a review of a children's game. Do you know how to sew or make things? You can earn a lot writing about crafts and hobbies.

Well, let me put it this way, amateur writers can do well because it is easy to publish and earn. In my opinion the standard could be a lot higher than what it is. Helium does have mentors to help you with your writing and of course we channel stewards are there to do what we can. The trick to earning a lot at Helium is to write a lot. I am sure I said this already but at the risk of sounding redundant I'll type it again: 1 competitive title to every 3 empty title. This ratio insures you earn the most for your efforts and with each new star the earnings go up until you get the 5th bonus star. Here's an example: 4 writing stars means $2 upfront for every eligible article. Add the empty title bonus and it's $3 per article. If you write ten articles to empty titles each week that's a minimum of $30 per week. That's not even two a day! If you did 2-3 (empty title) articles a day you could earn up to $63 each week! There are many titles that don't require you labor over the articles for hours or days. Even with a full-time job it would be possible to compose 1-3 articles per day. Many people stop writing new articles by the 25th of the month and start leapfrogging. This is a waste of time unless you have thousands of articles and some are outdated. Even articles that are not ranked in the top 25% are still eligible for passive income. If you are good at SEO and you create backlinks to your content the articles will be found and read and you will earn.

You both have done very well job. I like helium and feel they do pay writers generously than others. However I was scared to join the site because I heared they have very high writing stardard. Luckily at last I survived there after night months. today i got paid again and i was really pleased. I hope one day I can also sell an article there too. For now I have not done it yet.

You can make money from Helium but takes time and effort. I have been there for three years, and you will likely only make a few cents each day to start with from daily revenue the more articles you write the more you get. With more articles and better quality writing you get more stars and as a result you will also get more for each new article you write (if you are one of the first five in eligble channels). Most people give up when they find that they aren't earning quickly but it takes time.

This past month I earned about twenty dollars on articles already written. The more you contribute the more you earn. Even pennies eventually add up to dollars. Also you can republish some of your articles elsewhere like Associated Content and Bukisa. I have been doing this (AC only) with the ones on Helium that have not really earned anything to see if they will do better in a different site.

I am a very active member of helium and I've made quite a bit of money from it. I was asked to be a Channel Steward earlier this year and Helium has been working out quite well for me.
