Making a website

Okay so I purchased a domain and web hosting through godaddy.com and now I'm lost! I went to the applications section and downloaded joomla as a website builder thinking I was doing the right thing but now I'm at a dead end. The app says "creating database" which I'm not sure what that means but its said that for about 3 hours. I've never created a web page so I figured a website builder would be the best way to go, and now after already paying for the host and such I'm begginning to think godaddy is very begginner friendly. I'm frustrated to know end, called tech support and that guy was useless, he just talked to me like I was stupid and didnt help in the slightest. Is there some simple step I am missing? Has anyone used godaddy that can explain a little in dummy terms for me?

i am so sad and sorry about you. I have tried to built a website, using the online tools, and microsoft's office .. frontpage .. it is very crude, and like building a hut, amongst castles and skyscrappers.. but, it has comeout very well. you can see the link on my profile. i also got the guts to download a php bulletin board software, and lo, now I am HOSTING a forum too... so, it is nothing to worry, .. you need to RESTART all over again! .. trash out everything.. and, restart afresh. good luck. keep updating the progress.

Hi, I think you just have to go back in the godaddy app section and create the database that you're going to use for your joomla site. I think you have to give the database a name and a password. Maybe if you can send me some visuals of how you went into the app section. PM and i'll see if i can help.....HB

Are you familiar with website coding like HTML? Godaddy isn't great for beginners. I recommend you call again and if they can't help ask for a refund. A very easy free website builder is Weebly.com. Onde you make your website with them you can purchase a domain name through Godaddy and Weebly will guide you through the setup. Good luck with your website!
