Transgenders is a known medical issue?

I was watching OKTO (one of the local channels) the other day. And it was showing a documentary about transgenders and how this kid, a boy, is exhibiting female tendencies despite being born physically a boy. And how he feels uncomfortable when he is called a boy and made to behave like one. According to the documentary, this is a known medical problem. Apparently, the cause of the problems lies in the brain. The body of the baby is developed as one gender, but due to some genetic... erm... forgot the term used, during the development of the brain, certain processes did not trigger the brain to be developed in the same gender as the body. As such, when the baby is born, as the baby grows up, the baby sees itself as the opposite gender rather than the gender he/she is physically borned with. (ie, thinks he is a girl when physically a boy and vice versa). And this phenomenon happens to one in every... cannot remember the exact figures, number of child born around the world. To date, statistics has the total population of such transgenders at around 3 million. The parents of such children are put in a very difficult spot. On one hand, they have to accept their child is borned like that. On the other, they have to bear the brunt of the bias-ness that society has on transgenders. Have you ever come across any literature about transgender? What do you think? Share your views.

Changing one's s*x is something new. As what you earlier said, there are "males" who think and feel that they are actually "female" trapped in a man's body and that the only way to release this real being is through surgery and other procedures that will make these people acquire female bodies. However, they could not bear children like real females.

I was actually reading an article on this in a magazine last week. It was about a little 'girl' aged 9 who was actually born a boy, but never felt comfortable as one. 'She' started dressing herself in her sister's clothes, now at 9 her mother thinks of her as a girl and she carries on life as one. This must be very difficult for both the child and the parents to come to terms with. I think that other people need to be more understanding about this matter

I do know about such cases though.. There are quite a number of them in singapore too.. I think about a year ago, there's a report on one case in the papers.. It's a guy, transforming to a gal.. HE's borned a boy, but his femine characteristics only really surfaced when he's slightly older about 7-8?? I guess so only.. He says, he will be sneaking into his mom's room, to try those make ups, wearing her dress or clothings etc, which makes him feel so natural.. So by age 20+ or so, after NS, he went for the operation, and is now, known as a female, no longer a male..

I didn't there's such case. I wouldn't wanna think about me having a child like that. Lol. It seems a lot of problems originates from the brain. I just wonder what other diseases are out there.

Well that is a bit weird. hehehe. Sometimes I kinda feel like this too and sometimes I'm proud of being a male so I don't really know if I am one of those.

hi i want to share my views on that as i am one of that, i consider my self as a transexual male to female. i was born male but i am living and look like a female since when i was 10 years old an im 23 now. i have been in some surgeries to enhance my body to be fully feminine and i do understand and agree with the documentary you have seen in tv about transgender. its true as i based on my self, i am happy and continted with my life right now that i am one of those millions of transgender. and i never regret it, my famiyl accept and love me, i have friends and i value my self bieng a transgender. the saddest part is there is always disadvantage of being a transgender. one is the discrimination, because of that it affects our living, education, relationship, and some of it are familty. so now days we transgenders are fighting for those diadvantages in our gender because we are also human and we do have feelings and we just want respect
