- when a 2 year old girl is kept on NPO(Nothing per orem)and is crying for water. As a nurse all I can give her is a sips of water to wet her mouth and lips.
- when a patient is dying and all the family are crying and nothing I can do.
- when the patient dies on my shift and I am the one covering him.
- when a patients come complaining of a severe headache and the doctor find out that he had a malignant tumor in the brain. The patient's then ask me " Nurse, what do my results show, what's wrong with me?" You can't tell them because the doctors restricted that until the relatives come and they talk to them first.
- when I met a pretty 9 year old girl coming to receive a chemotherapy session.
Not everything that we meet in the hospital we can talk about. And by the end of the day i will feel so upset and filled with melancholy.I can go home and sleep deeply, go out with friends, but on the next day comes another sad day come.
This is life...and this is become part of my life and I adjust and move on.Because beyond of this sometimes we NURSES are able to bring the smile to those faces and we able to change things.
