I classify nerd as Wearing glasses or having a boring and studious face . And as far as I have seen , nerds are intelligent than the other in that lot . I don't think that as sheer co-incidence . In India , there is a common belief that people wearing glasses tend to be nerds and they score good marks . And that becomes true in many incidences . And believe it or not , a nerd is the person who scores the highest rank in my class . So I believe that people wearing glasses are intelligent . But what do you think ?

Oh oh...does that mean I am a nerd or I am intelligent?? I have been wearing glasses since I was 17. May be I am intelligent. Nerd and intelligent are two different things though, beachdune. At least in my book. You can be intelligent without being a nerd, and same way you can be a nerd but without much intelligence. And by the way, nerd is a derogatory term.

We cannot really say that someone is intelligent because of their looks. Not because they look nerdy they are already intelligent. I know some that looks really like a nerd but not that intelligent. Sometimes they were just born with eyes that already have problem seeing without wearing glasses. And its also not true the other way around. Not because someone looks dumb they're really dumb. You will need to know some more about a certain person before you will really know the level of their intelligence.

That's a strange question for me to answer, because I do wear glasses. And, I think I'm pretty smart. But, I don't think there's any direct connection between my glasses and my intelligence level. I wear glasses because I'm practically blind without them. My eyesight could easily be as bad, even if I wasn't smart. And, on the reverse side, I don't see any reason why I couldn't be smart even with 20/20 vision. Now, if you mean are nerds intelligent, sure. Since my definition of nerd is someone who finds learning and intelligence cool, I would say you have to have some brains to be one. But, if you're asking about eye wear or facial expression I'll say that's not a full proof indicator of intelligence or being a nerd.

Looks can be deceiving. There's a one-year-old girl in our neighborhood who is already wearing glasses with very high grade not because she reads a lot, no, not at one year old, but because of a congenital defect in the eyes. I also know of some grown-ups who have similar problem as the kid. I don't think the wearing of glasses will tell you the amount of stuff one has in his or her head.

Some people who look "nerdy" or "geeky" are not that smart, but there the majority of them really are very intelligent, it is just that they are intelligent in different ways. I am great with the arts: Music, Languages, History, Psychology, Philosophy, Art, and generally anything in the art department, so I am considered a "Geek" because of it. I am not great in the Math and Science department, so I am not a "Nerd". There is a difference between "Nerds" and "Geeks", and I am a "Geek"! Oh, and it is true what they say about "Nerdy" and "Geeky" girls: "Behind those glasses really does lie a Goddess!"

hi beachdune. i wear glasses, but am not a nerd. i wish i was, but i dont have the highest IQ. well, that is the stereotyping. i guess it's due to the influence of movies and tv. a person who is gawky, a little shy, studious and who wears glasses is a certifies nerd. from where i studied, the nerds and the smarts didn't wear glasses. fact is, they were quite popular because they have both the beauty and the brains. i guess the stereotyping is quite connected with eyesight because nerds are known to be studious and bookish. and myth has it that the more you read the poor your eyesight becomes. which is actually contrary to science. reading a lot or reading under dim light doesn't really have direct impact on eyesight. happy mylotting.

No actually it is not like this but yes we have psychologically accepted that intelligent people wear glasses and look bored and they are less interested in daily issues of daily life too.

I think those people who wear glasses have astigmatism,,hehehe..Kidding aside, being nerd is being a loner? there are some people who are tagged as nerds in my circle but they are not intelligent, they just have different views from us..
