Really, A clowder of cats. That is what dictionary.com says a grouping of cats is, a clowder. I can really say I have never heard of that before. I though it was a herd of cats (and yes I have two biology degrees and my own clowder of cats) so one would think I had heard of it before. Have you ever heard of a clowder of cats? Do you have your own Clowder of cats?

i have heard it,but i also have heard "conspiracy" and "colony".
although with my 6,conspiracy often is more acurate, because if they're hanging together they usually are up to something

Hi scarlet_woman,
definitely "conspiracy" suits 6 cats perfectly!
(can I tell you a secret though? cats are ALWAYS up to something, even when they seem they are being nice to you for no reason, lol)

Hi Aurone,
First of all, I don't know what "clowder" means. I'll look it up right now.
Secondly, does ONE silly cat who I love deeply make a clowder? lol!!

Well, my cat is silly and also she's a spoiled only cat.
I thought of getting a little sister for her, but I don't think she'll feel good about it, lol.

When I was growing up I would have said yes, since we had anywhere from five to seven at any given time. But, now I'm down to two so I wouldn't consider that a clowder of cats. though like you I've never heard of the word. Interesting of what you can find online. Though I wonder if that's just wildlife, or domestics too.

It must be domestic because the only other real grouping of cats that you are likely to see is lions and they are called a pride. I was using dictionary.com to look up some terms and they have a revolving Did you Know feature and this was one of their tidbits of information.
