Destiny?

Can this be true? Or is it another "excuse" for human to generate a sympathy from other people? because if life is "some would say, a destiny", then what are we living for? Destiny can only be "used" by people after someone has achieved something or finished something. Like a person winning as the President of a country, some would then state that "it is his destiny to become a president"..What a Crap excuse!!
