Have you ever bought an item to use knowing you would return it? I have friends that routinely buy things knowing full well they will return them. Personally, I hate returning items. I noticed on AOL the retail industry suffers with 10 billion in return items a year and now they are cracking down on abuse. It is actions such as these that make life more difficult for people with genuine returns

That's a shame. I definitely would not do that. There is a Customer Protection Act but it should not be abused. I don't have anything against returning a merchandise or product but it should be reasonable. I would definitely return a product if I was misinformed by how it works and its quality or it has a damage before I even used it. However, I have not ever returned any product that I've bought whether over the counter or online. It's because before I buy the product I make sure that I have tested its quality and I really need it.

hi teamrose I did not know that some women are actually thieves that come in pick out several items then find the managers name and lie to the clerks that they had called the store manager and she said to bring the items back.this is really a nasty little stealing game. How can anyone do such a shoddy thing. I have never bought anything with the idea of returning it. I actually hate to return things as the clerks would give me a fishy look like they thought I was lying. Now I know why with that stealing racket going on. I have always been completely honest whenI returned something. Once I had one clerk accuse me of wearing the item and was rescued when the clerk who waited on me the day before saw me. she told the other snotty clerk that the blouse I returned as it was the wrong side was already wrinkled like that. She also told her that a whole shipment of that particular garment were wrinkled likethat, so the other clerk went and looked at them, then came back and apologized for doubting me. I really had not wornit, I just tried it on with all tags still on it and it just did not fit right, too large in one spot and too small in another. I did get my money back.

My friends all used to do this before they went on nights out. They used to buy dresses, wear them for the night out, and then return them to the shop and get a full refund on them, claiming that they'd never been worn. A favourite for this is Next, as their tags can be put back onto the clothes making it look like they'd never worn them at all. They would spend hundreds of pounds on dresses, and then return them the very next day. I think it's dishonest.. if they can't afford something to keep, they shouldn't buy it to return, as it is unfair on the shops that are losing out on profits before people are choosing to do things like this.

I have never done this and to be totally honest, the thought of people doing this makes me angry. Why do they purchase something if they intend on returning it? Do they only need something for a limited time? Are they buying DVD's and then burning them? I own a small online business and we have a 30 day money back guarantee. I have felt in the past that people have taken advantage of this by returning things like DVD's and books. It has made me wonder if they are reading the books and watching the DVD's, getting the information that they want and then returning them. This does not happen very often thankfully and most of the returns that we get are for legitimate reasons and are usually kitchen equipment that have been easy fixes, but there have been a few times when we have been suspicious of the people returning the items.

Hello teamrose, I only returned items after I brought which I found damaged, torn, spoiled. But I have a former classmate who already returned to Canada she frankly told me she used to do such. Whenever there's a special occasion, gatherings, or events she's going to attend.. she told she will go to an expensive dress shops or boutiques. She will buy the dress or gowns she like then she'll use it for the night or event. She makes sure she didn't throw the price tag or removed it, or don't use any perfumes or be with smokers else the next day she'll bring it to laundry shops have it dry cleaned. The day after she'll returned it to the shops or boutiques where she brought the dress since it still got the warranty. She used the dress/gowns but she got the money back. I was really shocked when she told me about such act. I didn't believe what she told, I never thought it was really true and she was just making some stories, until I read your discussions. She belongs to returnaholics. Happy mylotting.

i guess stores have to have a return policy right? but i have heard of people buying an article of clothing, wearing it for a special event then returning it! i think that is pretty horrible.
